It has come time to upgrade my phone and was wondering which way to go. I am looking for something that works well with a Sena headset and hopefully in the future a Garmin Zumo. Ideally I would like to be able to use a voice dialling feature. Anyone out there had success with something like this and if so what phone are you using?

A lot depends on what you want to do with your phone and what your preferences are. I have my Nokia info backed up on my laptop via Nokia sotware so to make life easy I will probably stay with Nokia. I would think that most of the top phones would be able to be bluetoothed to a Zumo and Sena but as Dave said it would be worth a call to Dale.

Diesel and I both use our IPhone 4S with sena smh10 units and they work seamlessly, I run my gps app through my phone as well as music

iPhone 4 for me too.....Phone BT to headset, Navigation with TOM TOM and VMS and Music all in a waterproof Lifeproof case RAM mounted on head stem with charger from cig plug in right side glove box.

Touch screen usable with gloved hand.....conductive thread sewn into finger tip of glove.

Sorry to hijack, where do you get that from mate?

Bought from Australian Robotics for $3.50 for 60 feet + $6.50 postage.......only used about a foot of the thread and sent to a mate, who gave to his mate who then lost it.......so if you buy some let me know and will buy you a beer at Middelton for a couple of feet of it to do new gloves....

The iPhone has been fine for me as well, however, I hate apple and the way it restricts what you can do. Today, hopefully, I will attempt to get the Galaxy S3.

iPhone 4s for me with the SMH10 headset

Can use voice dial and use voice commands, such as:
Read text message,
Play music
And so on...

You are right Brock the iPhone is restrictive and iTunes is a bit of a pain to begin with.
But I have always been able to find an app for anything I wanted it to do and after a little use I found iTunes isn't that bad.

Can you give some examples of things that you wanted the phone to do that the iPhone wont allow and that the Android will? (I'm genuinely curious)

With a bit of hunting both can do anything. I dont like iTunes, had a nasty experience some years ago when I tried it. It played wy large collection of MP3s well, but when I deleted itunes after trying my music went as well. Bloody thing had moved everything into the itunes directory.

Things my S II can do very easily ... bet music and pictures on and off, just plug it in and it become another usb drive, just drag and drop. As for "Unapprovrd Apps" I received a warning the first time I wanted to download a non approved Samsung app, I said yes I did want to install it and away it went. Free it were too.

Itunes has it's uses even if you don't have iphone stuff.

The music data base for accessing cd info is http://www.gracenote.com/ which is heaps better the microsofts WMP own database which is mainly from user input.

So if I can't find track info using windows I fire up I-tunes to get it and then rip the cd and move the file to the music folder.

@Shiney - why did you swap out your Scala for the Sena? You reported the Scala was fandoogooly good at one stage.

Diesel, I switched to the Sena dut to:
Better speakers

Easier to connect extra external items... Radio etc

Communication with Streak on the ride to the Rally

and

My sister and her boyfriend just got bikes and wanted headsets.
So I wanted them to have something that would enable them to communicate flawlessly with each other and I know the G4 set works very well, so I gave them to her and got myself a new set of headsets, the SMH10

And as a side note, I haven't had any issues with voice dial on either sets

it could because I use a first and last name when telling it who to call.

Having been a long time user of iStuff I did bite the bullet and purchase an iPhone 4S. Yes there is the latest and greatest but all about saving some bucks where I can. I have an iPad so was struggling to justify getting this device hence my initial enquiry. Cheers for your input.

I too recently disposed of my rotten Apple, and went the S3. Was hesitant as the iphone had all the apps I needed. Now 3 months in, I have better apps on the android, and my user experience (customization) outshines anything Apple iOS can deliver.

I still use iTunes for my music, and have a great little app called Easy Phone Sync to sync with my S3.

Only downside, the "up-to-date" Microsoft drivers cause issues with connection to my PC, but there is an easy work around using an older driver.

And on the plus, half the price of the iPhone 5.

Which means more $ for fuel to ride!!!! Happy days.

I have been feeling for some time that this iPhone would be my last. Certainly not interested in outdating all my docking stations etc by updating to the iPhone 5 - but I will miss SIRI.

Is there an android version of her? (SIRI is the voice interface that answers things like "have I any appointments today?" "What's today's weather like?", "Send txt Msg - home late" "Check msgs" etc etc etc)
