Throttle Locks

I am sure I have seen threads on this topic at various times but can't easily find them. I am looking at fitting a throttle lock and am considering the Throttlemeister from Motorcycle Larry. They seem a bit dear (circa $150). Does anyone have one of these? What other types of throttle locks are used by forum members?

I use a Neps throttle lock.  I got here in Oz, Streak should be able to tell you the supplier.

You may just see a black cable tie around the bottom of the throttle lock, the cable tie holds the throttle lock to the two accelerator points and stops alot of free play.  I did this as I would engage the throttle lock at 110kph and noticed when I let go of the grip the speed would change, this cable tie has minimise this greatly.  I have a mate that using Stinky Pete's method and loves it (he has rubber grips)

At the moment I use this Vista lock......but it's been on the bike nearly seven years and needs replacing. I'm still decinding which way to go at the moment.

You will find a reference to my 50c cable tie throttle lock, which works a treat.

I had an MCL Throttlemeister on my ST1100 and found it to be quite good.  It replaces the RH bar end balance and is easy to set and, using light friction, adjust.  Like all MCL items, it's machined to a very high standard.

Yewie , other options include the Go Cruise.....$22.50 on evilbay or the O'ring method.....$1 or the Vista at about $49....

I have the NEP, it needed a little modifying to fit. Its cheap and effective. Of course cruise contril would be better.

I use a $10 Throttlerocker for low speeds and McCruise for the out of town stuff. The throttle rocker works a treat and is easy to get off ebay or direct off throttlerocker.com.au

I've got both a Go Cruise for longer distances and a Throttlerocker for short stuff. Both are brilliant, cheap and very effective.

I have to agree with Sabie, I had the Brakeaway on the 1100, now owned by Wild Rose, it is an excellent unit, I replaced it with MCCruise for Middleton, now I can't attend. I have had Vista and a few others over the years but IMO the Brakeaway is the best of the bunch.

I'm looking forward to fitting the Breakaway throttle lock I got of Yorkie
I went for a ride with Redline and he showed me his and loved it
I presently have a throttlemeister and has nothing on the Breakaway
I would love to have fitted a McCruise control but not as cleaver as Yorkie and fit it myself..

That's exactly the same way my "cable-tie" throttle control works.

I have one of these DickB, works good and looks good, just remove your bar ends and fit the new ones easy. You wouldn't know you had a throttle lock by looking at them.

This little unit just keeps on working even better after I put these grips on as they're a couple mm shorter than OEM ones. Paid $20.00 for it in 2006 so I think that's quite good value.

I've had a Kaoko fitted for the past few years and they work perfectly, but I very seldom use it, only because we don't have very many long straight stretches of road in Tassie!!
