A short quiz. How many can you get correctly?
« on: March 28, 2013, 09:10:45 PM »
(Borrowed from another forum)
Here are the questions:

1. Johnny's mother had three children. The first child was named April. The second child was named May. What was the third child's name?

2. How much dirt is there in a hole that is two feet by three feet by four feet?

3. What word in the English language is always spelled incorrectly?

4. In Alice Springs, you can't take a picture of a man with a wooden leg. Why not?

5. What was the Prime Minister's name in 1975?

Are you writing down your answers?

Answers:

1. Johnny, of course.

2. There is no dirt in a hole, dummy!

3. "Incorrectly".

4. You can't take pictures with a wooden leg. You have to use a camera, idiot.

5. Julia Gillard. Duh.

I took my time, thought very carefully and got through.  Although maybe I've seen it before somewhere.

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Here's one for you:

Suppose there is a town with just one male barber; and that every man in the town keeps himself clean-shaven: some by shaving themselves, some by attending the barber.
It seems reasonable to imagine that the barber obeys the following rule: He shaves all and only those men in town who do not shave themselves.

Under this scenario, we can ask the following question: Does the barber shave himself?

What do you think?

Asking this, however, we discover that the situation presented is in fact impossible:

- If the barber does not shave himself, he must abide by the rule and shave himself.
- If he does shave himself, according to the rule he will not shave himself.

Now go take an Asprin and have a quiet lie down.   :grin

Who knows what a Bex is? :grin

A white powdered asprin, phenacetin and codeine dose folded in a small piece of paper and sold in a yellow and blue box.
But then, I'm almost as old as you.   :p

Just did a search on it, and the "codeine" is in fact caffeine.

How odd! When I was in my late teens, our local dentist showed me in his surgery, something else you could do with a packet of Bex.
Roll it into a cylinder (like rolling a smoke), then blow it into a lit match - Instant ball of flame!
Something you wouldn't be likely to see in any dentists' surgery these days
