Are you involved with Charity or Non for Profit? tell us about what you do, or are working with, nothing like spreading the word any way we can.

Example:

my business Hip Pocket Workwear & Safety Toowoomba, we do a Breast Cancer Awareness day every friday, with all the staff wearing pink, and we actually have the Princetta plants around the shop that are promoted by the breast cancer foundation, we got into it as my mother is a surviover and the support the Local group showed her was amazing, here is a photo of most of the staff dressed up in their pink gear with the Toowoomba Mountaineers Basketball team.

I'm on the committee and also help out coaching when needed at our local Boxing gym.  We've just received a grant from the Kendall Op Shop which will enable us to build our own shed later in the year.
I'm in the local RFS and due to undertake the crew leader course, and I'm part of the RFS Manning Aviation Support Brigade

I do the Black Dog Ride (one day and red centre).  I volunteer at the local RSL (worked my butt off yesterday for Anzac Day, boy am I feeling it today.  I lost count of how many 12kg bags of ice I lugged around, not to mention the cartons and cartons of piss I stocked the fridges and eskies with).  I also assist with coaching junior hockey, plus all the other things I get roped into as a parent of 2 active teens......

Last year for a few months I was drving one of the food rescue vans in Perth one afternoon a week picking up leftover food from one of the food truck companies (Street Chef) and several Crossant Express shops in the CBD and delivering it to the Salvos and a couple of other charities. Stopped due to some minor health issues but now do it on the odd ocassion.

I do hospital visitation every Monday with the ABI people (Aquired Brain Injury).  Entertain them with puzzles and motorbike videos- keeps their minds active.

I drive for MCCS (Maitland Community Care Services) It is an organisation the picks elderly citizens and NDIS clients and take them to various appointments. Involves driving around the Hunter area for the day (similar to a taxi service) Do it sometimes twice a week. Meet some very interesting elderly people who are sometimes lonely and you may be the only contact they have. Long day when driving, but very rewarding. Have been doing this for last 3yrs. Doing a project job at South Africa at the moment for a few months, so little bit of a break from it at the moment.

I have been knitting squares for the Port Pirie branch of Red Cross since March 2018. The squares then get turned into blankets by other volunteers.

See sample

Being over 60 and on New Start my job search provider suggested I do some volunteer work to meet the requirements. I need to do two squares a week which is based on hand knitting with two needles but for me it takes about thirty minutes per square using my knitting machine.

Since I updated in 2019 I can update again- I now do driver training with PCYC two or three days a week.  The TMR require 100 hours of supervised driving for L platers and there are lots of disadvantaged kids who have no chance of getting a licence without volunteers using the PCYC cars teaching them.  Some are wards of the state, some from single parent families with no car etc.

Sounds like it's similar to the L2P program here in Victoria...Good onya, Bill!  :clap
Both Sue & I did the training for that program but unfortunately Sue was diagnosed with Breast Cancer shortly after so we never did get to do any mentoring.
