This is a section of road heading south from Hellyers Gorge. Excuse editing, first time using imovie. 20 min down to 8.

Well I started to enjoy that.....was a shame when the SUV turned up infront of you to spoil your groove.....but you get that......sorry to say I stopped the video as soon as you overtook on double yellows.

I don't intend to offend you......but this is what keeps me employed and scars our reputation as riders.


Would love to see it edited and reposted......great riding roads

Hi PeterC - It looks like a good road to ride. Can you add a bit of a map to show us where it runs. I have only been to Tassie once and am keen to do some riding down there. It will be nice to keep this bit of road in mind for the 2016 Ulysses AGM at Launceston.
I agree with Chris's sentiments about the need to tidy the video up. I watched it all. Things posted on here can represent OzSToc and may give the wrong impression to the public about OzSToc or give new riders the impression that its ok to cross double whites.  :wink1

Looking forward to the new edition once you have practiced those editing skills a bit more  :thumb

Chris and Tony,

I will remove as requested, however if you look again you will see the car moved over on a straight section, slowed and indicated for me to pass. I had no option but to cross the double lines. Definately not in the habit of passing on double lines.

Just head south from Wynyard to Strahan. We take a week and do a full lap anticlockwise. Make sure you take a ride in to Stathgordon dam. Stay the night at lake pedder lodge in Strathgordon. Definately worth it.

Don't remove it mate, but if you would like some help to edit it and repost, would be real happy to help.....I use iMovie to edit mine.....it's not the easiest program to navigate around, but once mastered you can produce some quality footage.

The area you where travelling through was very bike friendly....love the twisties

What camera are you using ??

The trip is pretty straight forward. Devonport to the rasberry farm in Elizabeth town for breakfast. Make our way to cradle mountain via mole creek. Make sure you stop to look at caves. Cradle mountain you make your way to Stanley. couple of ways you can go. Overnight in Stanley. Next day the real fun begins. Head to Stahan vis Hellyers Gorge. Just before Tullah turn right. the loop will bring you out at Zeehan. Then down to Stahan. Overnight in Strahan. Next day head to Queenstown for breakfast. Then haed toward Strathgordon. Make sure you stop at the lookout to look back down on Queenstown. Further on stop at Derwant bridge??forlunch at the fat wombat. Then the ride just gets even better. The ride from Derwant bridge to Ouse is nothing short of awesome. Then not far after that you head out Strathgordon. 70km of wilderness and magnificent  roads. Stay the night in Strathgordon at the Lake pedder lodge. The unfortunate part is you have to ride over the same 70km stretch of road to get out the next morning. :thumbs. After that go wherever you want. We have gone a number of directions over the years and all good. We ussually do a full lap. Recommend a stop down bruny island and the meal at the pub. Do not have a bad word to write about Tassie and its roads. Hope this answers your question Tony. Sorry to the Tasmanians if I spelt any of your towns wrong.  :blk13

And it only costs $300+ to take your bike there and back- if you're happy sleeping in a chair.

Thanks PeterC - Great info there. I have been around the Island, in May last year in my Patrol over a fortnight. We did the caves and Cradle mountain, Strahan, Zeehan, Queenstown over the top to Hobart, Freycinet peninsular, Bicheno, Launceston and back to the boat. We did most of the big ticket tourist items. Next time we want to do it on the bike, and see the things we didnt cover the 1st time. The place is full of great food so I will be back  :popcorn :beer :eat :beer :thumbsup
Ps - The speed advisory signs are very misleading, especially Queenstown to Hobart - one corner will be marked 25kms/hr yet you can do 75 around it, the next will be marked 75kms/hr but its really only a 25km/hr corner and with heaps of skidmarks leading over the edge where others have come adrift.  :eek :o :phone :crazy >:()

I did Hobart to Queenstown last October and would have to agree it's a great road, but the mountain section demands respect.  You're right about the advisory speed signs- it's a road you ride technically, and not casually depending on the signs.

Hey like it, nothing wrong with that video. Typical of Tas that kind of scenery... Living down here in Tassie you take this for granted. (AND finally how did you managed to get the "turbo" onto the ST!!! Impressive speed at times)
