WOW - Kwakka 900
« on: May 12, 2013, 12:37:35 PM »

Classic bike on sale. This is the bike that finally took the Honda 4 down a peg after the Honda 4 changed the industry.

As a teenager I was in awe of this bike and yet I now have a bike that is so much more powerful and versatile. Now that I am mature  :rofl I know that power in the right hands is a safety bonus.

Check this bike out. Could easily be in a showroom. Plastic on the pipes tho - better get that off b4 a test ride!

Just shows how a pristine item can command a premium price.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

My older Brother had a Green 900 he brought brand new.

I wonder what ever happened to the bikes from the movie Stone? I did hear that a lot were given away to the actors.

...sorry :'(, but cannot wholly agree :-[...however...the 900 does have one very, very  important feather in it's cap...anyone care to have a stab at what that might be? :think1

Cheers the can :-)

Was it the first DOHC 4-valve per cylinder production bike?

The Honda didn't get there until 1979 after it's '69 debut, (according to Google).

The only other bike I reckon ranks in this ethereal league of immortal godbikes is the Suzi 750 Waterbottle.

I'm not saying I'm right just, as a youngster at the time, I was an avid reader of mags and this was my conclusion.

I owned a Suzuki GT750K waterbottle back in 1977-78, before getting the Suzuki GS1000EC.  I still regret not keeping the waterbottle as I loved the engine (had a 3-1 Hanco pipe on it) but not the handling compared to the GS.  I still have the GS but would prefer to have the waterbottle and the ST instead.  Oh well...

One of my mates had a 750 Waterbottle when we lived in S.E.Asia in '72. It used to go like a cut snake, but the sound didn't match the Honda 4 or the 650 Yamaha.

It seemed to be one of those 'I'm a Suzuki man' bikes.  It seemed to be a bit cumbersome in the heavy traffic, but so cool out on a highway.

Well done you  :thumb ...yep the Zed did what K's couldn't and that was knock the Vincent Black Shadow off its perch as the worlds fastest production bike of a 125mph certainty if in tune. A position it had held for 22 years.  :-++  . (Sorry Bill I could have worded my question better.) You right I think about the Suzi, but I thought it was earlier with one of the 1100's?.

I dont think there is a bike that U could hang ya hat on any more as the worlds fastest production bike...I think all the quick ones are speed limited to 200kph :-[

Not sure where you got your info from but the Kawaka only had that title for only 2 years at a 132mph if this list is anything to go by.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fastest_production_motorcycles

Max speed for production bikes is speed limited to 300 kph.

The May edition of 'cycle torque' newspaper has a story about the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R running at Lake Gairdner in SA at 208.15 mph (334.99kmh). It had the speed limiter removed and different tyres and sprockets. not a bad effort for a production bike running the full street equipment including std mufflers and even the NSW number plate!  :thumbs
