plastic colour restorer

Hi all,

I remember seeing somewhere a post for restoring the colour of my grey plastic around the bike which in places has become dull looking.
Can anyone please guide me to that post or recommend a good colour restorer.

Mother's "Naturally Black"   or   Auto Glym "Vinyl and Rubber Care".    The Auto Glym does a much better job, but leaves a slight greasy feel to the treated surface.

One might deduce that rubbing in Peanut Oil is the requirement.  That will avoid all the odd looks you get with all that brown tack hanging off your bike.

This is a perennial issue so I thought I'd give it a bump and advise that the AutoGlym product that I have been using on my black bits has had a name change.

It's now called AutoGlym Bumper and Trim Gel, and is available from Repco stores.

Whilst Peanut oil does do the job, it doesn't do it for very long.  Two months tops. Very handy if you were selling.....

How much is it?  I use Armourall which keeps the black plastic looking good ($10).  I also see Supercheap Auto have Meguiars wipes claiming to do the same (also $10).

I's quite expensive at $27 for 325ml, but the results are a darker shinier black, and a longer lasting finish to that achieved with Armourall.   I've tried Armourall Protectant, and Mothers Back to Black, and the AutoGlym is far superior to both.

I just rub down the grey plastic with baby oil... works a treat!

Wiped it down last Sunday... lasts a couple of weeks. click on pic to enlarge
