ST1100 - FRONT BRAKE / STOP LIGHT SWITCH
« on: June 16, 2013, 01:28:41 PM »
Hello Brilliant Minded and Fellow St  ..  ers,

My '98 St1100 . for whatever reason has a Front Brake Stop Light Switch malfunction......
It has not been removed nor has any fitting near or around the lever been altered, played with or otherwise buggered up . . has me stumped, the switch still clicks when activated and I can see / find nil loose connection with dismantling.

Would one of our fellow members have suggestion/s to alleviate / repair / discard ?????

All help appreciated.

I ride ................. :dred11.............. :dred11............. :dred11............. :dred11

Regards
Robert

Replace.....the little micro switch inside tends to fail after some time. I go through one every 12-18 months or so.

Buy two and keep one on hand as a spare.

SWITCH ASS..   35340-MM5-600   1      10.87 from here http://www.bluecitymotorcycles.com.au so local dealer should have similar price

Mine stopped working not long after I got it. I put plenty of contact cleaner through it while clicking it on, while removed of course. The connections can be a bit tricky so make sure they are on.

Sheesh!  What do you do to them?  Maybe every 5 years, but not 12-18 months!
Could be that harsh SA climate?

I've only replaced once while back in SA (2 years ago) but  3 over four years while living in Port Hedland and Karratha. All three had the little return spring fail so switch wouldn't work.
