Had an ongoing issue with poor performance from my left side carbys since I put the bike together and moved to Whyalla from Newcastle. Have posted on here before to ask for advice on what to check. After taking all the easy options such as air leaks, fuel filter, pump flow, spark plugs, plug leads, air filter, etc, etc. But in the end stripped the carby bank off the bike and checked float levels, jet nozzles, diaphrams, fuel lines, but found nothing wrong. The rubber sleeves were a bit hard, but looked servicable. Decided to buy new rubbers anyway and reassemble the carbys.
When the new rubbers came, what a difference in plyability. Didn't realise how hard the old rubbers were untill comparing with the new rubbers. Installed the new rubbers and reassembled the carby bank. Went on a lot easier with the new rubbers. Tightened all the clamps up and hooked the fuel lines up.
Turned the bike on, and what a difference; smoother idle, more responsive. Finished installing all the bits and pieces and took the bike for a run. Like a different bike, smoother takeoffs, better excelleration. Overall, much better performance. Had only ridden this bike since restoring and had no comparison to know what normal was. It is much more pleasureable to ride. One more problem out of my life. Now I can go for those day trips i'm keen to try.
Rubbers were cheap to buy ($17 each). Could have saved a lot of worry if I thought to change them in the first place, but Honda being Honda, thought they would cost me half my house to buy and was already reaching the bottom of my pockets.
