My name is Richard Court, I live in Port Macquarie and I am 74 years of age and a member of Ulysses Mid North Coast. Back in October 2012 I joined the ST Owners club. (My apologies for not having introduced myself earlier).
I recently returned to riding after many years. My old license had expired a long time ago, so I had to go through the drama of acquiring a learner’s permit and complying with all the requirements, including completing a year on “P” plates. This I did on a Yamaha TMAX 500.
In July 2011 my full license was restored to me and I purchased a beautiful, red, 2002 model Honda ST1300 and I am now look forward to participating with this group on-line and on-road.
I am also Ham Radio Operator and a member of the Oxley Amateur Radio Club. We were recently involved with the Beechwood Billy Cart Classic, providing communications and Marshalling security check points for the event. I was on my bike and a chap, an ST1100 owner approached me and during our conversation he told me all about OzStoc and encouraged me to join. (Hence my registering).
At first the size and weight of the new big bike was a bit daunting and it took me a little while to build up confidence in the handling of it. However I persisted and now enjoy group rides with Ulysses as well as venturing further afield on my own. Last November I road to Wakefield Park near Goulburn to watch the production car racing, and returned home to Port Macquarie via Forbes, up through Tamworth and down through Yarrawitch via the Oxley Highway, Home. I have also ridden to Lismore and Brisbane a couple of time which I enjoyed, but find eight and a half hours in the saddle a bit of an ordeal.
