Oh, just thought back to my grips. I use a throttle lock which fits between the switch box and grip so I had to trim about 5 mm off the end of my grips, I wonder if doing this might damage the heating pads inside the grips. If I don't trim up the grips the throttle binds and is sticks.

Good point about only operating when the motor is running. I didn't realise until too late that my Oxford grips were wired directly to the battery and the obvious happened.
I am yet to put a relay in but will do before it gets too cold.

Not cheap at $275.00

I didn't think Honda made them any more.
Three of us in Perth have got a brand called CLS. From Motorad Garage. German made. Set and forget.

I just picked up a new set of OXFORD PREMIUM TOURING HEATED GRIPS today (they fit the ST1100 and ST1300) :runyay
This is the new version that doesn't require relays and has a auto shutdown if the bike isn't running :thumbsup

It cost me only $114 from "Motorcycle Tyre Warehouse" located at "Unit 2, 48 Kremzow Road, BRISBANE QLD 4500. (Ph: 1800 MC TYRES)"

They also sell them on eBay OXFORD PREMIUM TOURING HEATED GRIPS for the same price plus $12.50 postage.

Cheers

Wow Is that how much ST's were new? I thought they would be more than that. They hold their value well then.

They were more than that!!  $18,000 was the give away price when Honda retailers were informed to sell off their stock as no more would be available.
They were originally around $24,000+ depending on your location. I was actually quoted over $26,000 in Hobart at one stage when I was enquiring about four years ago. :eek

That's a good price Shiney and I'm sure they'll do everything you want them to, but the Honda Grips control fits flush and very neatly into (below) the left side lockable pocket, and for all accounts looks like it's original equipment, you'd never know it's an add on. I'm sure that doesn't bother most people but I sort of like the neatness of it. :grin

I had two sets of Oxford heated grips and they kept shitting themselves.
I've learnt that price sometimes is not the main consideration.

They say the issues with the old grips has been fixed with the new design:

So far the consensus is that they appear to be doing well :thumbsup but time will tell >:()

I'm happy with mine, but they don't get much of a workout here in Sunny Qld.

As far as I know they're still available. Like most Honda OEM items they're cheaper to bring in from the USA, I'll try and locate where I brought them from and how much they cost and post it later.  The photos below show the control panel and where it's located, plus the grip. I have them connected through my Quartet Harness and they will only operate while the motor is running! :grin

I purchased them from Honda East Toledo in Ohio, USA on 19/8/2011 and they cost $170.99 delivered to me in Tasmania.  I just checked their web site and they're still available, cost is now $$175.00 + shipping $79.00.   They've gone up a little in price since I brought them, but with the dollar value I guess that's to be expected.  Like all Honda products the quality is excellent! :grin

Hi Couch, I checked the Honda East Toledo web site and it says that 08T50-MCS-100 Heated Grips (with Thermostat) are not available.

I ordered OEM heated grips 08V70-MCS-100 for my 2012 ST1300 from MRCycles in North Carolina in July 2013 - shown as available on their web site.  After two months of not being shipped due to non-availability got my money back.

After much searching, I have not been able to find OEM heated grips anywhere! Most sites now say obsolete or not available - not sure why they continue to show them on their web sites?

Can you please confirm the link to the Honda East Toledo web page showing them as available.

Many thanks,

Marty

Don't fret if you can't get them.  The Oxfords are excellent and cheaper.
