Snow 30 km from Guyra. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I suppose that would be in the Ben Lomond Range, around 1,500m above sea level, any higher than that up that way?

1586 mtrs is our highest peak around here.....1330 mtrs in our backyard, have some low country visitors stopping over who are Uralla bound......they all hunkered around the fire at the moment  :nahnah

Good to hear Johnny. I got back about 4:00pm after having an extremely leisurely trip home. And it got warmer the closer I got to home ..yay!
Awesome RTE and had a great time. Fantastic to finally put faces to names. Hope all had a good trip home. Wonder if ST2UP managed to find his way that great distance.. :grin

I got back in canberra at 6.40pm, after coming back via the Oxley Highway and down the coast. At least I got a taste of some warm weather, as the temperature riding near home was the same as when leaving Uralla this morning  >:()

Verity and I made it home safe and sound. Managed to find some rain so on her first decent outing as a pillion we had cold, wind and rain. Will she go again? Ohh yeah!

Great seeing everyone. Looking forward to the next one.

WOW!!!! What an extremely successful weekend in the New England town of Uralla. I think quite a few of us really felt the cold   :eek that morning JonnnYTED, Sicman,  pitSTop and ST2UP left for breakfast in Uralla. It was a white frosty -4 as the guys rode to Uralla, folllwed by a tourist ride through the beautiful country side of Dorrigo with other members.

I would like to mention how fantastic it was to see the amount of pillions that turned up with their riders. If this was your first ride we hope that you all had such a great ride and a great weekend and will see you again soon. So thank you to you all despite the weather.

It was also fantastic to see the members that travelled many many kms to support this very successful weekend.

Thanks to everyone who attended this Overnight RTE on this brisk winters weekend in Uralla, I trust all had a great time........the opportunity to catch up with fellow OzSTOC die hards over a few brilliant meals and some great riding roads is the best therapy for a busy life style......lets face it RTE's are a lifestyle  :thumbsup

Love seeing these overnighter RTE's in our smaller country towns, OzSTOC members and our RTE's bring a welcome surge of thousands of dollars to the local economy  :-++

We had 38 people for the RTE meal at the Top Pub and 34 for Breakfast the next morning :hatwave

In addition to the overnighter we had 15 for a ride to North Dorrigo via parts of the Waterfall Way for lunch at the small restaurant converted from the old village shop. Checked out some scenic lookouts, waterfalls and steam railway in the area.

Thanks again everyone  :-++

Howdy again folks,

I'm not long home (in Iluka) after an extended weekend ride following the Uralla show. Middo and I rode south from Uralla to Tamworth, caught up with some family & friends, we headed back home today via the New England Hway and Gibraltar Range to Grafton.  Cold start but a really good ride back to the coast.  Counted 7 Highway cars between Armidale and Glen Innes....all were already gainfully employed with cars as we snuck past... thankfully.

I just wanted to say a big thanks & well done to Chris and Jean for a great job of getting everything organised for a fantastic weekend!  It was akin to 'herding cats' more often than not, but Chris and Jean do have some special skills.  Great roads and scenery. Excellent company, food (North Dorrigo Cafe was great as was the Top Pub) you can ask for nothing better.  Looking forward to the photos and the next ride.

A big thanks to Chris and Jean for organising a fantastic RTE. It was great to see so many people turn up and nice to catch up with some old friends and make a few new ones too!

Greencan, Paul G, Marissa and myself took two days to ride home to Brisbane. Sunday was an easy run from Uralla to Inverell and up to Tenterfield.  Today Greencan and Marissa and I rode the Mt Lindsay Rd from Tenterfield through to Woodenbong and home through Rathdowney. We had heard so many negative comments about this piece of road but were determined to see it for ourselves.
There is no question you have to take your time on the few dirt sections, and some sections that are sealed are rough and bumpy. But the reward of the ever changing scenery sure makes the effort worthwhile. Best road I've ridden in a long time and there is so much to see along the way.

Hear, hear! :thumbsup. Well done to you both :-)

I can only concur with what Barry has just mentioned, please do not write off this section of decommisioned hwy that once was the main road link from Sydney to Brisbane, without allowing youself at least 4 hours (min), to travel along it. It is perhaps it's run down state that rewards those who do take up the challenge to experience of piece of Australian motoring history in some truly spectacular mountainous countryside and with a lot of attached history.

Remember, it's not all about the eating and an occasional idiot who thought he was a dog, it is more about the Ride to and from there. ;-*

Just a thought.

Ciao, the can :-)

Many thanks to Chris & Jean for a fantastic 'Christmas in July'. We really should have a monthly 'Christmas in (month of year)'.   ;-*

Got back to Wollongong at 6:30pm.  Went home via Thunderbolt Way with JohnnyYTHED leading the way.  Icy roads, rough roads, damaged bitumen and loose gravel all made the trip to Gloucester just that much more interesting. From there, Fiona and I decided we needed to make up time by going via Newcastle and the freeways, rather than following Johnny via Singleton and the Putty Road. WRONG!  Heavy rain followed us all the way to Raymond Terrace.  We decided to have lunch and sit the rain out at RT. It cleared 20 mins later, and it was all clear sailing all the way home after that. Although we did make a couple more coffee stops along the way.

Fiona and I had a great weekend riding the Dorrigo ranges and making new OZTOC friends. It made the cold nights and mornings all irrelevant.  It was all over too soon.

Now on to the next RTE.  :runyay
