ST1100 cruise control - eBay
« on: July 21, 2013, 10:27:37 PM »
I don't have this for sale, but on eBay there is a second hand one (been for sale for a while) - it works out at about a quarter of the new price. A bit of a gamble (which I would take if I had the cash) and would suit somebody who is "handy". The cable "interface" has got to be worth it by itself. If nothing else worked, a cheapie after-market cruise (from elsewhere on eBay) combined with the "interface" would be a "goer" I think.

Best of luck, if you are interested

The first eBay one is an MC Cruise, which is a good Oz company.  Dunno where he gets "OEM" from! MC would probably support that item if you bought it.  They are an excellent company when it comes to backing their product.  They would have the manual for it, in any case.  The bits of corrosion on it are not a good look, and might imply electrical corrosion as well.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

I have just cleaned up mine (it was on another ST11 for 8 years or more) and it works as good as new. May just need a clean up and a proper clean of the solenoid in vacuum canister (easy to do, and it just cleans away gum build up that makes the vacuum operation sticky).  I have the instructions for this as well as installation and trouble shooting instructions.  I found McCruise quite willing to help by sending through specific model instructions, so if you get stuck should not be an issue.  The type of activation switch and computer are the main identifications needed.

Also, ask if it comes with the 6 rare earth magnets (in the heads of the bolts holding on the rear rotor) that are needed to get a sensor reading off the rear wheel. They should be able to be bought if needed, and I have some to measure up.

You just have to take the tank out, plug in a few things and undo the throttle cable to fit the throttle control unit. A few hours work, easy  :phone

I just had a dig around and found the identification sheet.  From the pictures the one on sale looks like a first model one, as the control switch (MCS 023) is only suitable for the first computer used (MCS 022).  The parts and instructions will be a bit different to what I have.  If any bit does not work I don't know if there are replacements of ways around it.  McCruise has all the manuals in PDF and willing to help.  I just got help from them in making my unit work with 3 rather than 6 magnets, as the solution (DIP switches) is not in the manual. Worked a treat.

If anybody buys this, make sure your fuel tank is less than 1/4 full before you start and do not replace the tank until after the throttle cable has been connected, my instructions said replace the tank, I had to remove it again for access to throttle cables.

Hey saaz, how much are you asking for yours? If nobody else has grabbed it, I might be interested. I just sold my vstrom so I have a little spare cash.

Mine is not for sale, as it is in use for the foreseeable future. The ebay one is not mine.
