Old Steve gets an ST1100
« on: July 29, 2013, 02:04:40 PM »
Hi, I'm Old Steve - or perhaps I should have registered as Old STeve.  I started riding 3 and a bit years ago in NZ at the age of 61, did 24,000 km on a 250 learner cruiser, then 9,000 km on a Boulevard M50.  Sold that when I moved over the ditch, and have just bought a white 2002 ST1100.  Going to be picking it up next weekend.

I rode with a group when first starting on a bike, and the tail-end charlie took me under his wing me and will probably have saved my life in the long run with his advice.  He rode an ST1 and swore by it, so when I wanted an older bike, cheap, the ST1100 was an obvious choice.

Excellent choice for a solid, reliable, affordable bike that will just keep going.
Tons of advice on this Forum and others in the USA.
Be sure to join up with our rides.
I see you're in Mackay.  You're only our second member there.  You might find Ivan will be on for a ride somewhere.  There's more ST riders in Townsville and Cairns you might link up with.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

I go out to Grasstree on business, so Emerald is only a little further, what 4 hours from Mackay?  If I venture that far I'll give you a yell.
