Can-Am Spyder
« on: September 01, 2013, 09:49:55 PM »
Some members might recall a previous post of mine posted a couple of years ago after one of my riding buddies, Phil, came off his bike on one of our rides and severely damaged his foot, well, after a number of operations he still has severe foot pain and walks with a limp. Anyway, to cut a long story short, he can no longer ride a two wheeled bike, so he's opted for a Spyder. I gotta say it's a great looking unit, he even brought a cheap Classic trailer and had it painted up in the same colour. He's heading off to the mainland on Tuesday, slowly making his way up to Queensland and camping along the way, and plans on being gone for a couple of months, and I'm going to miss the silly old bugger! I'd love to be going with him but "no can do" unfortunately. He dropped around to my place this morning to show me how it's all stacked up, so I shot this pic for him.  Just for the record he's a Vietnam Vet and he'll be turning 74 this year! :grin
If you see him on the road, give him a hoy!!

Well done to Phil for pursuing his passion for riding in any way that he can.  I hope I'm still riding and have the same "get on with life" attitude at 74.   :thumbsup

Great to see someone of his age not letting an "off" stop him going on a life adventure.
I hope some of us see him on the road and can give him a leg up on his way.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Hi Couch,
If Phil is in need of assistance and is near Sydney just let me know, I'll work something out.
It goes to show you "adapt, improvise, overcome" is still going strong with Phil.
Must say a very nice ride Phil has.

Cheers
Dave

If he hasn't left yet, is there any chance he could be given the OzSTOC emergency number?  Subject to the approval of the RAN organisers.

I'm not suggesting this be done for every Tom Dick & Harry who sets off on a tour, but this is a Mate of a Member who deserves support.

Well it would be lots more $$$$$ as there is no way we could sell the ST, especially with its new seat  :runyay The other reason is I sleep on the bike and I might get tossed off as it doesn't lean so I'm told, and we love the corners. But love the storage of the Spyder   :clap
