Motorcycle Rider Training

Seeing Teela is doing lessons with Q Ride it got me thinking that it would be good to do some rider training, refresh the brain, get reminded about things we should be doing that we are not, then it got me thinking that there might be a few in the club who might like to do the same...

if i could set it up, would people be interested around the states to go to a rider training day? and does anyone have anyone they would recommend?

Cheers

For information only I did a Google for SA and found only one site that offers anything above the SA compulsory but expensive RideSafe learner program

Paul Riley at Skillmaster.com.au can cover NSW. He is an ex NSW Paramedic motorcyclist and is currently training Vic Ambulance Paramedics as they set up Paramedic motorcycle squad for the first time.
Last weekend he held a training 3 day weekend at Dubbo. I didnt have the days off to get to it. I think it was $300 for a full day of advanced motorcycling skills.
Paul is a top bloke and very skilled with training and would fit nicely with OzSToc. Paul's current ride is an FJR 1300 but we may be able to swing him across  :thumb

It's been so long since I've ridden I'll definitely need a refresher when I finally get back on the bike. METAL (motorcye educations training and licensing, run by NT Govt) do a skills plus refresher course up here, you get to play on the track at Hidden Valley  :thumbs
For those Ulysseans out there, remember you can get your reimbursement from the club

I would be interested to get some training as so far all my learning has been self taught.  Where we live you don't have to do courses to get your L's or P's :wink1

Marylou NEES at Garage Motorcycles, Strathalbyn SA, offers post license motorcycle rider training via her company "Roadcraft".   She runs two courses.
Phillip Island - 2 days 3 night accommodation   Cost $775.00
Refresher Course - one to one tuition only        Cost $200.00

I got my license in the old days when there was no training required, so I did the Refresher Course a number of years ago when I started riding again.  It was well worth the dollars spent, and concentrated on road riding skills, and not slow speed circus tricks.   Observation, use of gears, braking and engine braking, throttle control, road riding corner lines and much more were covered, and 90% of it was "on the road" tuition.
