Overnight RTE, Saturday 20th of September 2014 - Inverell

Teela and i are going down on the friday as i have my ST1300 booked in for a 75,000km service and a full once over at Vince Strang Motorcycles first thing Saturday morning

Have sent you an email. There's a spare bunk bed in our cabin if you don't mind sharing with Marissa and I  and Dick and Ella.
The route I was planning to take will take us out to Boonah, Queen Mary Falls and across to Warwick Via Killarney.
However, I can happily run the trip in reverse and head down through Rathdowney, Woodenbong, Bonalbo and Old Bonablo and pick you up on the Bruxner Hwy at Tabulam or Drake? Then ride home Via QM Falls on Sunday.

Its an early start from my place to make Texas for lunch at midday going that way, but I'd happily forgo lunch in Texas and take a different route to Inverell.

Geez Royce, your having an uncharacteristic run of bad luck with your ST mate. Sorry to hear that you won't be attending.

Not sure if this might be of interested, but a certain Greencan has been contemplating offloading the QLD part of his ST1100 fleet.
It's a good solid reliable bike that will be going cheap. May be a proposition for you to swap over to another bike and rid yourself of the old problematic one you have now?  .... Just a thought?

great idea but blow a head in the vitara so bought a Subaru as overall repair bill was more than the car was worth. apparently some outback models have an inherent problem of head gasket giving out after 10 years or so and mine is one of them but worth fixing. this stopped me looking at a 1300. i have the gear to replace the electrics but finding the time is the problem. will be done this year though

Had a new rear tire fitted this morning in preparation for the Inverell ride. Took the wheel home and discovered that the thread is damaged on the axle, and on the retaining nut. Going to try recutting the threads at work on Monday. If that dosnt work then its going to be new bits from the local dealer. Really hoping that this dosnt throw a spanner in the works....so to speak.

Running a tap through the nut and a die over the shaft should fix things. You could also try a small triangle file on the shaft, that will clean off the rough edges if you are careful and the die will tidy the thread up.

Bikes are washed, fueled, tire pressures done, Teelas bike serviced, all I need to do it pack and we are good to go!

Tyre pressures always get done no more than 24 hours before the ride.  That way you know they're right when you jump on.
A week is a long time when you're under 290 kpa of pressure!
Packing!  Pfft!  Ten minutes...
