Mounting a phone and GPS on my 1100
« on: October 01, 2013, 07:08:37 PM »
Hi People,

I'm interested in a 'thingy' to enable me to mount a phone and GPS on my ST1100.

Continuing on to Brisbane after the VIC  Metung RTE on 19 Oct and looking for a way to put them up front in easy view.

Have bought a new helmet, Shark Evoline Series 3, Scala Rider G9 helmet intercom and a Garmin Nuvi 3597LM GPS.

Trying to work out how best to mount the GPS and Samsung Galaxy S2..

Any Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Regards

MickS

Best allround solution is RAM mounts in my opinion.....they have multiple cradle options and about 4 different methods of attachment to the bike bars/dash/controls......check them out in the prefered supplier section here on the forum to save 10%

Mick there are several solutions to this one, I myself run a Dash Shelf using Ram Mounts.

The Dash Shelf is designed by Tipsy one of our fantastic members: here is a link with pictures:  http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=203.msg17007#msg17007

and the Ram mounts can be purchased through on of our good supporters Ram Mount Australia: http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=1876.0

Mick I have to agree with the boys. The Ram mount system is the best way to go. They have numerous types of mounts.
The below lionk is the best bracket for your phone as it holds it on all sides and is spring loaded. I have the Galaxy 2 also.

The AquaBox is a waterproof mount that can take up to a 5" GPS

I use this ball mount that screws onto the brake and clutch reservoirs.

All up it only cost me about $100.

STreak, why do you have an ipod and a iphone, when you music can store in your iphone which will free up a space for a camera or something else

I went the dash shelf way and purchased from Tipsy as well and It also seemed a good location to mount my power supply (waterproof). The GPS mount in the centre came with the GPS. Rather than use the original 12volt charger for the GPS I found one with a wind up cable so there's no issue with messy cables.

I have no need to use a phone on the bike other than as a music player and that sits quite easily in my jacket pocket.

I have space for a camera mount to the right which is on it's way. There was nothing suitable in the ram site others have mentioned before so I bought this one to make do until the HD sports camera that bought via Hamper King gets to us before Xmas next year.
