Out for spin in the Lockey Valley/Toowoomba Area
« on: October 12, 2013, 01:43:06 PM »
Well after weddings, family, work, kids, and generally people, that itching call of the helmet took over, so it was teela of to work, My daughter off to the neighbors for the morning, and on the road it was!

you forget how the world slows down inside your helmet, you get clarity to what your trying to think about, breath a little slower, and simply...you relax.....

todays run was only a 180km, but it was simply the best feeling i have had in a month!

Diesel and i had organised for Coffee and a OzSTOC Meeting at the Esk Bakery, where they had heard of the wedding so it made the day even better as they shouted me a big breakfast and a coffee as congratulations, and they would not take no for an answer!

Diesel and I spend an hour and a half talking through all the background stuff that we had not had a chance to deal with, since we both and been so busy....but that look of helmet time crept in again, so we shook hands and headed on our separate ways.

I decided to come back through Gatton, and come back up flagstone creek road as the roads twist and turn nicely through there, combined with the glorious weather, I could have ended up in Sydney if i didnt stop!

as i was coming into gatton i got caught up with a group of about 40 bikes heading somewhere, all makes and models, even saw a nice Indian and a norton mixed up there, which reminded me all politcs aside, and opinions it is the road that counts at the end of the day.

as i was turning left to head out of Gatton i spied a White ST1100, so it was a quick U turn and wheel in to say hello! Turns out Ian had literally joined the club today under the name of mikan13, he has a very nice 1999 model police ST1100, we ended up chatting for about 20 mins, heck of a nice bloke i must say, he is looking forward to coming along to the Maleny RTE and learning more about what we do, and who we are!

so that was two good stops with two good ST Owners, Today has getting better.

So the turn for home, up all the back roads, and just generally having fun, even met an interesting bloke with an interesting letter box, who wants a more interesting letter box, but i have already posted about this elsewhere.....

It still amazes me that only doing a 180km on the bike, on good roads seeing good people, just makes me appreciate why we ride in the first place, to set aside the complications outside of our helmets, let the wind hit us, and enjoy the road in front of us....bring on toomorrow and some more road....

Cheers

Just confirms the advert: "You meet the nicest people on a Honda".

Great idea for an outing.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

I'd happily kill to go for a ride at the moment, nearly 6 months since I've been able to ride.  Hopefully I'll get clearance soon, then I'll be using the bike every day, since bike parking is free in the city....

Great looking ride, I had a great time at our Rose Show today but looking for a chance to get a ride in  :grin
Actually I took my wife Robyn for a 106 km loop last Sunday out to Oakey over to Pittsworth and home. Robyn has not been on the back of my bike for 2 1/2 years so it was a bit of shock. Then on Monday I did a 230km loop with my Brother-in-Law on his Harley
after I worked a 11 1/2 hr all night shift.
We went down through Lowood to Fernvale for lunch. Then we rode around the back of Wivenhoe dam then back to Esk where we stopped for a cool drink before heading up through Hampton and home gee I slept well that night  :grin

I know the feeling. I have parked the bike since the Inverell trip, as I have had non-bike things to do, but have the Victorian Metung trip coming up, Mallacoota FarRide and Urbenville FarRide to prepare for.  So I suppose a little dayride to Crookwell or the coast is in order just to check things out (now that long weekends and school holidays are over).

Have to finalise some ride plans I suppose  :think1  :wht11 as only bits and pieces have been organised so far.
