In last Wednesday's Courier Mail the Attorney General was asking recreational riders to be patient with the new laws.

My response would be simply don't apply the "stop and interrogate" provisions to riders clearly not "bikies".  The odds of a "bikie" being on a non-HD, dressed in a cordura jacket with a non-black helmet would be remote to say the least.  A friend was pulled up on a 250 Honda on Mt Nebo because he happened to be following a Ducati ridden by someone "known to Police".  Surely not justification for the ten minute grilling he was subjected to.  He is 19 years old, clean, well-spoken, polite, and yet he was treated like a drug carrier!  If the Police can't make those distinctions easily then there is a need for retraining.  The "bikies" don't recruit people like him, nor do his type choose to associate with "bikies".

Where is the sense in all this?  Diesel was lucky out riding yesterday, not to be pulled in to the Station for a body search.  And you guys on black STs are prime targets because they look a lot like Harleys to a tin-top driving Cop.

For many years now it's been fairly common for bikies to have a real job and act like law-abiding citizens so that they blend in.
They don't all subscribe to the credo of being overweight, loud and needing a wash so as to intimidate the public, it's so they slip "under the radar" and aren't noticed by authorities as much.  Tattoos on hands revealing club I.D. tend to be a giveaway.   
It used to be that they needed permission from the club to wear their colours.

While they drive imported cars (Toyotas, Mitsubishis etc so they're not as obvious) one thing they won't do is drive a Jap bike so once the authorities understand this things should get simpler.  More reason for riding an ST.
