About the club name ,we in the gpz900r owners club are now metamorphing into gpz900r and gtr1000 as the guys get older and less able to ride the sports bike for any time are now buying the gtr as their long distance tourer.
So i guess in time some amendment to the title will be required.
No longer dreaming. Past bikes,XR80 1979,DT175 1980,XT250 G 1980(X2), XT 250T, GPZ900r (x2), H100, TT350, TTR250.  current bikes Honda Varadero 1999, GPZ 900r 1986, XT 250T 1987, and newest and best , 2006 ST1300.

I think there will be an ST club for a long time. There is still a GS Suzuki club and katana club, and they have not been around for ages.  The ST is still a relatively modern and practical bike,

Come to think of it, I have a GS suzuki and and ST... :think1

Marcus ,since you have a touring bike your ridding years are bound to be more than that of a sports bike rider.hey but there may come a time where the Weight is too much for you.I guess we all need to enjoy what we have for as long as we can.

True, and I do like looking at the different models, but I can't see myself with another bike for a very long time.

Having said that, if they release an ST with reverse then I'm all over that. :D

Looks like a cross between a sports bike and a cruiser, I'm more than happy with the  :wht13 and I have no inclination or intention of "upgrading/downgrading"!!  However you want to look at it. :grin

It may be a great bike, but I think I would wait for the 'real' one.  I am just glad that Honda did not do that the the ST1100!

Looks a nice bike, very "pretty" but not for me. Although on a side note, I do like the seat, I wonder how comfortable it is?

The protection the ST gives you from the elements is what attracted me to it in the fist place.

And here is some more information.  Touring accessories are mentioned, as is a detuned engine.

And a video, with what looks like a must have accessory...

This is how they should have made the CTX1300

Take the front end section off it (I highlighted Green with awesome Photoshop skills :p )

And replace it with the modified front section form the Goldwing.

The rest they can leave, make the side panniers larger and the windscreen retractable chuck a reverse gear on it and bingo New model ST

IMO that look one million times better.

Marcus, here's a dumb question for you...as the front section bits you are talking about are simply plastic, could the change not be carried out by anyone with half a skill-set?
Cheers,

I'd imagine the headlight array and button config wouldn't suit a straight conversion with the moulded plastic... I could be wrong though

Love your work Marcus, how about a top box and some silver wheels...or lighter colour I hate the black wheels.

You should have a job in Honda design and development... :thumb

Hi All,
I was talking to the Honda dealer yesterday and he said NO MORE 'STs being produced. The only Honda tourer will be the Gold Wing. Pretty sad day if thats true. He tried to sell me the 1400GTR kawasaki as an alternative.

Cheers

Hi Bill,
Yes it is True, they have discontinued production of the ST1300 Completely now, and they did some excellent specials to run them out, some members got them for $15,990 ride away....

But luckly it makes the Second hand Market an excellent one to get an ST1300  :thumb

Honda are Releasing their new Smaller Tourer with the ST1300 Motor in it called the CTX1300

http://powersports.honda.com/2014/ctx1300.aspx

here is a discussion about it
