I don't think we're talkng about a replacement for the ST but it's evolution to the next model. Speaking for myself I love my ST, but by the amount I ride it will one day need to be replaced, and I for one would like to replace it with a "newer" version of the beloved ST.

The seat looks very comfortable, but the pillion has only been given a perch.  Pockey would be miffed.

As I said in the other CTX1300 thread, I like the exposed engine look, especially if it dissipates the heat more effectively than the ST13's fairing does.  More chrome to polish, but my Purple Polish would handle it.

Thats it Bill....dont see Pockey giving up her Russell for a chair like that anytime soon  :wink1

Yes.  Now back in your box!

If Honda puts the same luggage on the 1300 as is on the NT700 you would be pushing to get milk and bread into them.
the N and C options looked like a possible for me till I saw the pannier setup.

CTX1300 list of accessories

http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/Honda/honda_ctx%201300%2014.htm

Tall Windscreen, Audio Package (for standard model), Heated Grips, Heated Grip Attachment, 12-Volt Accessory Socket, Rear Carrier, Centerstand, Chrome Handlebar Ends, Chrome Windscreen Garnish, Chrome Engine Shrouds, Chrome Back Mirror Covers, Chrome Valve Covers, Chrome Master Cylinder Cap, Chrome Clutch Lever, Chrome Brake Lever, Color-Matched 45L Rear Trunk, LED Fog Lights

I find it strange that a centre stand is an extra for a bike this size

Me thinks that list, at Honda prices would mean a bank loan. ST topbox is over $1200.

I couldn't see the CTX1300 screen but as a best guess the CTX700 tall screen might be close as both models have a similar profile.

Have a look here,
http://powersports.honda.com/2014/ctx1300/innovations.aspx

Six of the 15 "innovations" (disregarding integrated luggage) are already on the ST1300.  Only LED lights, sound system, self cancelling indicators, LED display and TC are really new.  We can do two of those for ourselves.
We lose 6 litres of fuel capacity and presumably, electric screen.
Nup.  Still not convinced to trade Ruby.

Re Windscreen NOT electric. Larger screen is option. Still no cruise control and from what I read it looses 10 litres of fuel capacity against the ST1300.
In my opinion it is more a cruiser than a sports tourers, I suppose reviews will draw this out.

Self cancelling indicators are not new for Honda either as the Goldwing has them. Traction Control is on the 1100A model and dropped for the 1300A

I really think it is the UGLIEST bike apart from the f6b that I have ever seen. I personaly would not waste my money, if I need to replace my beaST it would be with a Goldwing maybe an FJR at a pinch. :rd13

My old 1978 Yamaha XS650 had self cancelling indicators.

So did my XS750 and all the Yamaha roadies of the time. Wonder why the factory dropped it?

What mechanism did they use?  A timer?

I don't remember exactly, but you could sit at the lights with blinker on and when you went around the corner it switched off. Maybe a mercury switch or similar.

Suzuki used to have it on 1980 or so on GS1000 and GS850, but I only have the workshop manula for the earlier one.

If the ST1300 isn't replaced with something equal to what it is now or better, then unfortunately the Yamaha, Kawasaki, or BMW would have to be a consideration when mine is due for replacement. I want the Full Fairing, Luggage, Electric Windscreen and large tank. My $0.02 worth.
Cheers,
Gary
