Les Pearce (OzSTOC), along with my son Andy and I, went for an easy ride today. It was showering when we left home, but we were determined to get a ride in, and the forecast was for clearing showers. We had drizzle through the Adelaide Hills and decided to stop at a good coffee shop in Woodside. Les left home without wet weathers and was getting bit damp, so we diverted to Lobethal where he purchased a set of bright yellow pants and top, as he was determined to look like a postie. Our destination was Mannum on the River Murray and lunch at the local bakery was the plan. There we chatted with a couple of pommie riders, one on a V-Strom and the other was riding a cruiser of some sort. Stories of riding in sleet, and snow over ice, made me stop whinging about a bit of rain. Andy (VFR800) and I swapped bikes for some of the ride home, and he's now had the experience of riding what he calls an "old man's bike". The VFR was OK, but I was pleased to get my ST back as the riding position on his late model VFR is a bit too crouched for me, whereas his previous and earlier VFR was much easier on my back. Les, who is quite new to OzSTOC is looking to start farkling his bike. A short 200km ride, but a great day out.
