Early start to Campbell Town
« on: October 27, 2013, 10:57:34 PM »
Early morning start today for a ride to Campbell Town to meet up with our mate Phil who was returning from a trip to the mainland. Foxy and I headed off at 7.00am with temp at 6 degrees and cloudy skies, but with the knowledge that the wind was going to drop and the skies were going to clear, and that's exactly what happened. We made good time and arrived at Campbell Town at 9.05am and had coffee with Phil before heading off along the Lake Leake road to Swansea where we had a light lunch before heading for home. We arrived home quite early at around 3.30pm. I think that's the earliest we've ever gotten home from a ride. Not a big ride, 460kls, but very enjoyable never the less. I'd sent messages to both Carsten and Sim in the hope that they might be able to join us but I guess they wern't able to make it on the day. Never mind, there'll be more to come, particularly with the warmer weather on the way! :grin

Below are a few shots of the Lake Leake road and the highway out of Swansea! :thumbsup

Not a pothole in sight!
And those sweepers!
And if you do a lap, you get to see the same ones in a day or so.     :grin
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Yes you could, but then you'd miss all the fantastic riding on the inland roads. That's a little like saying you could drive from Brisbane to Cairns in a couple of days, and you could, but just how much do you miss on the way! You could spend weeks riding around and through Tassie and never travel on the same road twice, unless of course you just had to get from point A-B.....................but I do know what you mean, my friend!! :grin
