Brains trust needed again.
I have a Dynalink 5kva silent diesel generator and need a to replace the circuit board due to a mixture of water and new batt.
Can any one repair it. or make a new one for me as buying a replacement is like looking for rocking horse shit.

how badly damaged is it Tipsy, are the bits identifiable visually.

Most boards are repairable to some extent.

Yes Brock all the electronic parts can be identified even the ciruit board is readable. .
I will take a couple of pics tommorrow if you  would like.

That would be good. It may be as simple as a good clean with ethanol and a stiff bristle brush. I did that for Daughters lap top after she tipped OJ into it.

Wish it were tha simple but have tried the cleaning thing.
Some of the copper has come adrift and we had tried starting it before realising that the electronics were half covered in water and some parts hazd started to corrode.
The unit had been stored in a non-ventilated container hence the moisture problem..
You shoul try working with the bags of premix concete that were also in the same place .

So its mainly damage tracks. As long as you can see where the track should be, then it can be repaired.

Ok but could you or who might be able to do it with out it costing an arm and a leg.
When I had good eyes many years ago I would have done it myself but things have changed somewhat.

I could do it once upon a time. I did an Airforce "Multi Layer PCB Repair course", 3 weeks of staring through a 30 power binocular microscope.

I dont have the gear to do a good job now, and my eyes are going as well. I could give it ago, if no-one on that side can do the job.

Mate, sorry to say that even if I could do the job (and I think I could, despite current Chemo treatments) all my tools and soldering equipment etc have been packed and moved down to Adelaide. I'd love to have a go but I don't have enough stuff left here to undertake it. Maybe if someone local can supply me with a decent electronic soldering iron (as opposed to a metal-work soldering thing) then I'll happily give it a go.

My wifes boss has the same problem with an A/C , it might be the next project by the looks  .

Dang!!  I've seen that when I've ridden down the Hunter Valley and I was misled by the giant billboards into thinking it was condensing cooling water.

Amazing what you can learn in here, and what those big companies try to put over us gullible bikers.

Way back in one of my previous lives I was a train driver in Gladstone Qld. One of the runs was to the Power Station to unload coal. In the wee small hours that place would pump out some smoke out of the stacks. I believe they would clean the scrubbers which pushed a lot crap up into the atmosphere. But during daylight it was always nice and clear.

And no it wasn't steam fom the cooling towers as NRG in Gladstone doesn't have any cooling towers, it draws water directly from the ocean through a canal and pumps the hot back into the Calliope river.

Ok Tipsy

Circuit board assesed  no major problems

New relays ordered and should be here Monday (unsealed and russt leaking out  )

A coat of conformal coating Tuesday and it should be ready to  ( rock on ) Wednesday

All smoke will be contained from there on
