Changing Oil

Can someone take a photo of there ST1300 and point out where the oil goes please.

Also how often should one change the oil?

Any photo of the RH side shows the area.

To access the filler hole, you remove the plastic pin on the little rectangular panel on the RH cowl (above the cylinder head cut-out) and swivel it away (it has a  tab at the RH end of it).
You the LIFT the LH side of the silver plastic cover and when it pops off the plastic pin, you slide it to the right to remove it.  The oil cap is then visible.  You need a small funnel to fit the little filler hole.  You can see examples in the oil threads.
Reinstall is the reverse, of course.
Have the bike on the centre stand and be careful of over-filling.

Some do a change atn 5000Ks, others 10000.

5000klm omg, I was thinking I needed to do it after every ride of about 1000k. Thank you so much

Most go for 10000Ks I think, after all 5000 is only a couple of weeks

Manual says 12,800 kms or 8000 miles and 13,000 kms would be easier to remember.

I do my 1100 every 12,000 so not much difference.

I change my oil and filter every 12,000kls, it's not necessary to change it more often than that, you're only wasting oil by changing it sooner!
I use Yamalube Semi Synthetic 10-40, which was recommended by our local Honda dealer.  They told me that's what they use on all the bikes they service.
If it's good enough for them, then it's good enough for me!
