At last- enlightened parking!
« on: December 08, 2013, 07:20:16 PM »
How good is this?!  Our very own parking spot in a shopping centre.
There should be many more of them!  We can get 3 bikes on the area a Disabled carspace requires, and, for instance Bunnings near me has about 20 "Wheelie" spaces, rarely more than half of which are being used.  One could accommodate 3 bikes instead of us taking up a whole car space (or 3).

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Cairns Central shopping centre has had motorcycle parking for years.  They have allocated what used to be 3 car spaces to bikes only parking and it's right near an entrance. Unfortunately there are numpties in cars who can't read and park there anyway... bloody typical!!

Let's not kid ourselves- McDonalds have designated that space for m/cs because it was too small after they measured out the regulation size car spaces.  That's why they aren't at every Maccas.  I say we BOYCOTT all the Maccas that don't have designated m/c spaces.     :runyay

Serious question.

If there is only one Mcycle bay and a bike is already parked in it, can another Mcycle park in a car bay?

I was at Morley Shops today and saw a Yaris squeezed into a Mcyle bay and the local security officer was giving it a ticket. (or a good report card for clever parking. Don't know how the occupants got out of the car)

Of course you don't have to park in them, just like disabled people don't have to park in their spots.
