I think he's suggesting that because we were all (except you) were so heartily sick of the pathetic cricket these days the BOSSES decided they had better have Oz win or we'd stop attending their stupid matches and the BOSSES would not get any money.  Like that useless "Pup" being given a million bucks a year for what??!!

Well seeing the Useless Pup is the leading Run Scorer in world cricket this year, i can see how useless he is  :p

and i for one is loving the fact there is a bit of mongrel in this series, I played competitive cricket in Australia and England when i was in my early 20's, and loved the challenge, i think that is why i get so into it now  :thumb

I turned the cricket on around 12 to watch the end. And I did - the last ball being caught!  Should have put off other things to watch from the start of play.  In 2012 the useless Pup scored centuries, double centuries and a triple one.  Unfortunately noone else in the side scored much - not wonder his back hurts after years of propping up the team.

As indicated, I can get by OK without cricket.
However, it does provide some good one-liners:

Q. What do you get if you cross the English cricket team with an OXO cube?
A. A laughing stock.

Q What is the height of optimism?
A: English batsman putting on sunscreen.

Q. What is the difference between an English batsman and a Formula 1 car?
A. Nothing! If you blink you will miss them both.

Q. What do English batsmen and drug addicts have in common?
A. Both spend most of their time wondering where their next score will come from.

Q. What does an English batsman who is playing in The Ashes have in common with Michael Jackson?
A. They both wore gloves for no apparent reason.

Q. What is the difference between Cinderella and the Pommies?
A. Cinderella knew when to leave the ball.

Q. What's the difference between the Pommies and a funeral director?
A. A funeral director isn't going to lose the ashes.

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
