Here is an email I received concerning a quiet little country road, a motorcyclist out doing what we all love doing, and a drunk asshat who should NEVER have been on the road...


Serious traffic crash update, Banana
A 44-year-old man has been charged following investigations into a serious crash at Banana yesterday morning.
Investigations suggest that a motorcycle and a car were travelling in the same direction on Baralaba-Banana Road just after 9am on January 15 when the car went to overtake the motorcycle. The sedan clipped the rear of the motorcycle causing the rider to fall and sustain life threatening injuries.
The 50-year-old Moura man was airlifted to Brisbane for medical treatment.
The driver of the car was later issued a notice to appear for driving under the influence and disqualified driving. The 44-year-old Woorabinda man will appear in Biloela Magistrates Court on February 12.
 Investigations are continuing.

It's probably very lucky they got the idiot driver, since he had no reason to desire an interview with the Police.

I don't want to make any non PC comments - Whoops I think I did.
Regardless this sort of thing makes my blood boil.
Hope the rider pulls though and the driver gets an appropriate sentence - which I doubt.

Today in Perth, a P plater got 10 months for cutting a car in half with his, killed one woman, whilst he was high on drugs and booze.

Was that penalty as light as that because it wasn't his fault because he was not able to think straight due to the intoxication?  Drunkenness should not be a mitigating factor, but rather lead to an increase in penalty.

If it's 20 for murder and 10 years for manslaughter, I'd reckon this event resembled manslaughter and deserved more than 10 months.  There's higher penalties handed out for embezzlement.
