how much should a timebelt replacement cost
« on: February 14, 2014, 12:59:46 PM »
Howdy,

Just getting ready to maybe purchase a ST1100.

The one I am looking at has not had the timeing belt replaced and its done around 150K.

how much should a timebelt replacement cost including labour?  I know its a bit like how longs a bit of string but some aproximations would help greatly.

Cheers,

You can get a Gates belt for around $45.00 and it should take about a morning to fit it yourself.

As Grumpy said, if it was me I would check the valve clearance also, and record the clearance for future reference.

You could try and have an OZSTOC maintenance day at your place, if possible, to get it all checked.

I changed my timing belt and checked the valve clearance (within spec) on my 1100 at 100k.

At my age " getting lucky" is remembering what I came in the room for ;)

I had a rough quote before when mine was nearly due at 150,000 km last year and was told about $400 +/- (about 4 hours labour) with me supplying the belt.

So I did it myself and saved more than that as I replaced all the coolant hoses etc at the same time.
