Back on a ST1300
« on: March 04, 2014, 07:39:56 AM »
Howdy all. Brought myself another ST1300 last week. I've enjoyed a few different :wink1 bikes since my last St including a K1200LT and a GL1800 wing. Nothing beats a good Bmw (I've owned two LT's) but when it comes to bang for your bucks the ST is a stand out all rounder thats hard to beat. Such a fabulous bike to ride.  :blu13left

Splendidly set-up Wing.  Just a bit too soon for me.
Are you talking about your reasons for selling?

The wing has since sold now, Bill.  :hatwave

Why did I sell the wing?  There were a few reasons, but the short answer is the wing just wasn't me. While they are a lovely smooth bike to ride their not an "exciting" bike to ride. I just found the riding experience was very "beige". Wind buffeting was also a disappointment! In that sense the ST has far better screen aerodynamics and much less buffeting.

Interesting to read the Wing has a poor screen.  For the high cost of the machine, you would think they could install an electric screen similar to the ST1300.  While they're bringing it up to ST13 standard, they might put a man-sized fuel tank on it.
I think I know what you mean about "beige" or bland.  However with the suspension setup you described, it sounds like it could have been ridden more aggressively than a standard Wing.
Anyhoo, happy for you that you got a quick sale.  If I had a garage I might have been tempted.

According to one of the bike magazines Honda surveyed Wing owners before the last model and an electric screen was not high on their requests, obviously they didn't ask ST1300 owners.
