Noise Suppression

Have a radio fitted to my ST1100. Receiving a fair bit of electrical noise. Has anyone fitted noise suppression to their bike and if so where and what did you use.

What sort of noise is it, alternator whine or ignition popping..

The lot! - Alternator, even blinkers.

Where have you take your power from, where is the antenna located??? Where is the audio gong to??? All can have a bearing on the problem

I dont think I have heard of any problems like this from others.

AND was it an AM station you were listening to?
Negative to BATTTERY negative , not frame not a shared wire. Cable runs??
AND if its hooked into a syste, you'll need an ISOLATED input lead, not just a straight cable

Have good look to see if there any loose or corroded earth connections any where on the bike. These can cause all manner of problems.

OK, point taken. Radio has main power straight from the battery however standby power comes off an ancillary wire near the (L) pocket - could be the hazard lights.
Earth is to frame. Aerial is on the rear of the bike and yes the cable isn't shielded. mainly listening to FM stations.
I'll have a serious look at the connections.

By ancillary, I think you mean a switched power wire. Not a good place to take a power feed, as its near the coil so can pick up ignition noise.

The antenna down the back is good, but I certainly hope its a shielded coax feed, or it will pick up ant electrical noise going.

Too bad that I am 4000Ks away, or I could take a look and advise you, remote fault finding is dificult.
