I've always thought that a sling winched down from the ceiling would be a safer and easier option. I don't like the look of that bike on a platform, too easy to bump it and all hell would ensue.

Not sure I would want to trust a sling attached to the handle bars of a 300Kg bike.
A modified version of the ramp could be made from steel.

Nope, the straps are bound to prevent access to the bit you need to work on. "Murphy's Law"
