You've got the bike to do it this year.    :grin
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

I am planning to do this as my first SS1600.
Suggestions on what I can do to prepare would be most appreciated.
What times are people looking to get to BV?
After speaking with Wombat, I am looking to hang around BV for a while and then camp at Eucla for the night. Then take a more leisurely run back.

This is my choice of 2 routes.

Or

Option 2 gives me more "Well Used" road but requires a 200km detour to make the 1600. It also allow me to keep a better average speed. Just need to make sure there is a fuel station at Salmon Gums and it's opening times.

Pack the wet weather gear mate my runs in 11 12 some showers and it gets bloody cold you will want a set of heated hand grips and take cash, some times card machines are not working no pay no fuel no ride.
I hope to be going this year might try and do the southwest and upto Norseman and over to the Border and home Sunday night
No SS1600 for me I did my own no documents Ceduna-Perth once is good enough for me

There is 24 hr fuel at Southern Cross, Norseman. You are better staying on these roads as you will find less roos around dusk. Last year I found one 125kms east of Norseman.
I's just shy of 2000 if you go Balladonia, Border and Home.

It's a long day in the saddle, and can be bloody cold at night.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Below is a plan I am working on for the run  :runyay

It is only rough for now but I am hoping someone will be staying at Balladonia and can let me into a room if I book one  :hatwave
I think I prefer to overnight at Balladonia rather than Norseman as less to ride next day and therefore later start .....   :H

Pezzz, Balladonia closes at 8:30pm, opens at 6am, I have booked a room, if you fuel up at Norseman you will be able to make Caiguna.

Thanks Yorkie. I will call them tomorrow and see what can be done. Norseman is stopping too early as it will mean to early a start and I am not sure I would make Caiguna.

I get you now. Fuel up at Norseman instead of Balladonia as it will be closed when I leave and by the time I get to Caiguna they will be open for refuel.
Thanks.
