Motorcycle marshal wanted Sunday 6th April Perth WA
« on: April 02, 2014, 10:16:07 PM »
Hi,
Is anyone interested in doing a spot of marshalling on Sunday 6th April, starting at 06.30 finishing around 18.00.
We will be a small team doing a roving patrol over 2 courses, marshalling around 1800 cyclists, starting and finishing at south Perth foreshore.
Meal and refreshments provided.
Anyone interested message me ASAP please.

Should recover soon.

It can be tiring, keeping an eye on the bikes, traffic, looking for problems and accidents and so on. At least a number of the riders said thanks for our efforts on the day.

My sentiments exactly, Hoffy was interested but had to work, Pezz was interested but on holiday in Bali, do you think i should ask for white bikes and form a marshalling team, there are lots of  events that need motorcycle marshals.

I do some local events and quite enjoy them. Good for keeping up low speed skills and traffic awareness.  Tech officials always prefer the STs and other touring bikes than sitting on the back of a sports bike!

There were a couple of camera guys on the back of sports bikes :eek :eek :eek

The STs are certainly good at the low speed stuff. I went and got a valve adapter to suit the pushies, there were a few guys with pump problems that i couldnt help cos my compressor wouldnt fit.

Next farkle:- Get hold of an out of test scuba tank, cut it down and reweld together. Pump it to 300 PSI, and instant tyre refills

Yep, Air compressor, tyre plug kit, First aid kit, Jumper leads. Only the compressor is any good to the pushies, the plug kit would be a little excessive me thinks

Most middle to high end treddlies use a Presta valve now.....although the schrader on kids pushes is still the go so they can inflate at the servo  ;-*

Those Presta valves look to be a pain, there were a lot of non working/sealing pumps and CO2 inflators around.

Those Presta valves look to be a pain, there were a lot of non working/sealing pumps and CO2 inflators around.

The Presta get the nod on the higher end mountain bikes and roadbikes as the need a smaller hole to come through the rim., so now the rim can be narrower, lighter, faster.......yada yada yada !! your on the money with pumps and Co2 adaptors.....many will spend $3,000 on a mid spec bike and then buy a $12 pump or C02 adaptor from K-mart  :||||  :||||

Its pretty to watch an experince mountain bike rider change out a tube on the run......most mobile again in well under 3 mins....takes me twice that :H  :H
