EARLIER: A motorcycle rider was fatally injured yesterday afternoon about 4.30pm when the bike he was riding collided with a car.
Officers from the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service attended the scene on Blackbutt Range Rd at Emu Ck just north of Crows Nest.
A spokesperson said State Emergency Service staff were still at the scene late last night.
I can provide an update on this crash. The deceased was Andrew H (from Melbourne Western suburbs). He was one of the six friends Derek and I were meeting at Esk on Saturday 21 March.
After a night in Esk and two at Rainbow Beach, we were heading for a night at Crows Nest when the crash occurred. None of us witnessed the crash, so we don't know what really happened. The Police have told us that it was a high speed head-on and Andrew was most likely killed instantly - we take that to mean he didn't suffer.
Andrew is survived by his wife Karen (no kids), our thoughts and prayers are with her.
RIP Andrew
The other 50 yo taken to hospital was one of the other riders, he was first on the scene and tried to help until emergency service personnel attended, he took things pretty hard at the time, but is okay now.
