How to Test out a bike Swag!
« on: April 27, 2014, 09:49:59 PM »
So what do you do in the middle of moving house? You get a leave pass to ride your bike 1,500km with your best mate while your wife continues to pack house....

The bike swag needed a test anyway....

So Friday morning, I met Mr Diesel in Canungra at the Outpost cafe, Sean stopped in for breakfast and a catchup as well.

After a good coffee, and watching the Anzac parade coming together, we headed south via Murwillimbah, Deisel promised me a great coffee at the Natural Arch Cafe, unfortunately they were closed, so Deisel did his best speed gun impression for the locals (no he would not let the white bike thing go)

Casino for lunch, and then it was down to Grafton for the back roads to Dorrigo, the weather and the riding was simply awesome!

Grafton and as you can see Mother Nature was seeing if she wanted to play to

We dodged all the ran until we hit Dorrigo, and it simply just poured...and poured...

We tried to get accommodation in Dorrigo, and as you can see by diesels face...we had struck out!

We rode through water on waterfall way, and well we were also well through with water, looking for a bed in Bellingan, we found the Diggers Rest Hotel/Motel, who beside being packed with people playing two up, let us store our bikes in the bottle shop, so it was a good 660km done for the day.

For a $100 dollars we got the biggest room in the place, 4 double bunk beds, and room to swing many cats!

As for all the noise and the people.... May as well join them!

So after beers, and takeaways, and seeing how many empty cans would fit in the bin, it was a good nights sleep and time for some more sunshine and roads, but not before saying hello to Gilly before we left

We came across some road works on a back road, and you should always keep an eye on the signs, as they are right!

We tried to stick to back coastal roads, but we found nothing but cool bridges, an dead ends....

After refueling bike and riders, it was time for Wauchope and the start of the Oxley Highway, I had said to diesel that I wad not totally confident on the new bike, well 2 hours later, I sure was, 55, 45, 35, 25, 15km corners, 300 times we swung the bikes around, even stopped into Gingers for a coffee and checked out the view!

With the Oxley done, it was time for Thunderbolts way, and onto Guyra, and coffee with chris and pockey before we turned on the driving lights and headed for Tenterfield

So after another solid 650km day (day dragged on because of a few wrong turns...aye diesel), it was pitch black and time to pitch camp

And then it was time for some luxury, ravioli with toasted sourdough bread and ice cold rum cans!

And then it was my first nights sleep in my bike swag, how was it, it was roomier than I thought, mattress was to think but that can be fixed after talking chris about different camping mattresses, so I give it a pass mark at the moment

a few of the locals near the camp sight where having a good night so Deisel and I didn't get a lot of sleep, mind you I was up first, and was packed and waiting while he was still snoring (of course you will get his side of this story)...

Would I do the trip again?

Hell yes when do we leave!

Good road story there, Streak.  Darned if I know how you get so many Leave Passes!!

OK- where are the other nine men?  Further down the road, or is it another one of those lying Roadworks signs?

With his feet in the grass, Diesel obviously didn't see the other sign warning about the plants.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
