OzSTOC SS1600K - so it begins.....
« on: May 03, 2014, 07:07:45 PM »
For those of you that are participating I need some information from you, please email it to me using the address located at the left.  I will get your email from your mail to me.

Please supply:
* Your first and last name (this is what will go on the certificate)
* Your address (this is more for the IBA membership database)
* the make and model of your bike, ie,2008 Honda ST1300 or 1998 Honda ST1100 or 2005 Honda ST1300P etc. (this is what will go on the certificate)
* what you would like in your package, ie, for $US43 you will get a certificate, back plate and pin or for $US33 you will get a certificate only.

Here is an example of what may end up on the IBA ride list:

Bryan Bortle OzSTOC SaddleSore 1600K  10/18/14 Honda ST1100 1,770
Craig Faison OzSTOC SaddleSore 1600K  10/18/14 Honda ST1300P 1,770
John W. Moore OzSTOC SaddleSore 1600K  10/18/14 Honda ST1300 1,770

Here is an example of the type of wording you could expect on your certificate:

This is to certify that on October 18, 2014, John W. Moore, rode a 2004 Honda ST1300 a total of 1,770 kilometers
in less than 24 hours starting in Coffs Harbour NSW continuing onto The Dog on the Tuckerbox at Gundagai NSW
before returning to Coffs Harbour while participating in the OzSTOC SaddleSore 1600K.

cheers
TJ

Sorry, the pin is a badge that has a pin through it for putting on your riding jacket.   The back plate is a backing plate for your numberplate. hope that makes sense.

What's a Backplate and Pin?

FWIW, this is the backplate:

As you can see, it can pair with another numberplate surround, e.g. OzSTOC's.

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

No. While this certification process is a little different to the norm the IBA generally don't need to hear from you until you send them your ride documentation.

Ok, hopefully Brock will post some files in here for me.  there are two GPS files, one a gpx file and one a kml file for those of you that use a GPS.  My route planning tool of choice is TYRE http://www.tyretotravel.com/
There is also an excel file which is planning tool I use for my trips. Please look at a gps file and the excel together as the gps points relate to the planning tool.

There are a number of rest stops/areas plotted as there are a number of petrol stations.  I have marked some refueling stops in the planning tool but please choose where you would like to refuel and stop.  This is just to take a lot of the legwork out of the planning for you.

If you have any questions then please post them up here.

If Brock is unable to add them here I will send them out to you all via email.....watch this space

The gpx file doesn't download as a file, but as a listing.
Tried twice.  The other two came in just fine.

Hmm

That is interesting. It is actually a text file, so in one way its working correctly but not the way we want. I will work on it and see what I can do.

I suppose we could copy it into a textfile and rename the extension "gpx".
