Third Gear Top Case fitted.
« on: May 26, 2014, 04:55:34 PM »
As mentioned in the Farkle topic Heather bought a new top case for the bike last Thursday (22/05/2014) and it arrived in this mornings mail.
Also I bought Saddlebag liners from the UK two weeks ago and they arrived as well. Now all I need is a new LH side case to replace my roo damaged one.

Not much to install the case except making sure the mounting plate is bolted to the bike's rack so that it's far enough back for the seat to clear and all squared up with the bike's centreline. I also noticed that no key is not needed to lock the case. The lock latch is spring loaded so when you close the lid it is locked automatically.

RH side case liner in place and there's still room for my seat cover when not in use.

My now naked 1100 or so it seems after five years with the top case on the back.

Side view of case on the bike. There's isn't a pillion back rest for it so the one off the RJays one is going on there.

Rear view. Case also has a built in reflector.

That would be the other left one or the right one for some.

:think1 That's to keep the cat (in 4th picture) away from the bike...........

Watch the reflector on the back, it is only held in by two very small screws.

Mine rusted and the reflector came off.  Fixed it with a drop of silicon on each corner and where the screws go.

I'll keep some supa glue handy.

On Friday morning I successfully transplanted the pillion back rest from the old top case to the new one.

As a tryout I used the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to take the pictures so the quality isn't as good as my digital camera.

Back rest added

I even used the original nut covers for a neat look.

Heather bought some stick on reflectors so I put them on as well. The LH side case needs replacing so the reflectors hide the damage until I can by a new case. Since I can't see them while riding then it's "out of sight, out of mind".
