kiwi intro
« on: June 03, 2014, 04:54:19 PM »
Hello all

Just bought my first ST, a 93 ST1100P. Been looking for a big tourer at a reasonable price for a while and this popped up. Got it off an expat Ozzie who bought it over to NZ quite a few years ago. The original red paint faded badly so for some reason he had it painted grey, which went green after the clear went on, anyway, I got it at a good price, half what they are going for here and Im in the process of wet sanding all the panels in preparation to put it back to Red , its done 72000 Ks which is apparently low for one of the.

Hi Kiwisteed and welcome to OzSTOC.    72k on a '93 ST1100 is barely run in, and she will look great bought back to red.   I was over your way in March on a driving holiday, and was hanging out to ride some of your wonderful roads on a bike.   WOW:

Enjoy the Forum.   :thumb

Thanks guys

I'm really looking foward to getting her out on the road, took it for a ride the day I got it and was so smooth and quiet.
I'm on the look out for original decals and also, possibly a missing fresh air hose, there is only one on the right inside fairing but looks like there should be one on the left as well, also the little flap where the pannier attach's , left side, is missing.

Welcome from Sunny Brisbane
You should find the stickers on e-bay - complete set.
As far as I'm aware there is only the one air hose on the right.
Perhaps the fitting is for LHD countries???  :wink1  :wink1  :wink1

A.
I acknowledge hardworking Australians no matter who they are or where they come from. All those who have contributed to this wonderful country deserve an equal share of gratitude for their contributions. To single any group of individuals out for special homage only denigrates the rest of us.

Thanks, did have a quick look on ebay but could only find Pan Euro ones, I found some NOS wings for the tank cover, really want the " ST1100 " ones either side of the fairing, and Honda on back of seat and side of panniers.

Welcome Kiwi!  Some early ones may have had the 2 air hoses, but due to carb icing only the right was fitted for later models. Unfortunately stickers for older bikes tend to be European, so pan European is what you get.

Hi and welcome.

Parts list shows 2 fresh air tubes for ST1100P and PP (Police) versions but from 95 or 1100S and SP models have only one.

As for Australian ABS models all years have only one air tube.  We didn't get ABS until 95 or the AS model so earlier two air vent tubes aren't an issue.

http://www.st-1100.com/st1100-parts-fiche-fairing-st1100p.html

As for decals or marks as Honda call them.

http://www.st-1100.com/st1100-parts-fiche-marks-st1100p.html

There is a red for the 93P (PP is white) but whether you can still get OEM decals is another thing but air brushing or custom computer printed are two options. Select the colour of your bike (red) and the right decal part numbers will come up. Australian numbers in 2nd chart.

Thanks mate, looks like the ones I want are no longer available, so it looks like custom made, didnt think about air brushing, something Ive always wanted to have a go at, hmmm. Just noticed there seems to be something missing in the mirrors, if you look at my avatar pic there's a little spacer piece between the mirror and the fairing.

The spacer is taken off when police brackets are fitted, so mine never had them as a police model

The grey certainly makes the bike look like it belongs to some dull institution.
Honda Glory Red (AKA Candy Apple Red) is the pick of the genuine colours.  Honda R101C is its official name.  But it's a bit exy requiring 3 separate coats- base, top and clear.
You'll need a pack of STOC Cards to put on any other UnZud STs you see parked anywhere.  We just might have to add our two Eastern Islands into the OzSTOC designation.  Good to have you onboard.

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Thanks guys for all the friendly support, had a feeling it was going to be expensive to do the Candy Red, Ill see what alternatives there are out there, dosnt have to be the exact colour as long as its red as on the ownership papers.
