With all those photos of sitting possitions , do you think they just make the same seats over and over again ?
Will be interesting to line up the two side by side  :like

Well I think we can put this great question to bed......

Just using the widest measurement across the riders seat:

Abe = 41.5cm

Marcus = 42.5cm

ST2UP = 46.5cm

So it's official  :hatwave I have the biggest Russell  :whistle and the widest A$$  :p

Come to think of it  :think1 I may have ticked the Bench seat option on the factory order form.

Marcus, did you find it altered the difference in height from the ground when stationary, and if so, which way...up or down??

Down if anything because I rode with the airhawke, so it's now about 1.5 inches lower.

But you do need to take into consideration the "wings" which restrict your legs backwards movement a bit.

But I won't know more until I ride it

Quick update, there was a break in weather so I went for quick ride the other night for about 1/2 hour:
Initial reports, after about 3 minutes wiggling I found a good position
( the problem is also getting used to being lower as the airhawke added another 1.5-2 inches )

No discomfort at all after settling in.

The wings on the seat DO stop my legs going down on a straight angle when stoping, so I found myself sliding forward a bit, I think this will change after more riding.

I will give a more indepth report once the weather improves and I get out for longer.

So far I give it 8.5/10 (where stock was 1/10, stock + airhawke was a 5/10)

Saddle ratings (IMHO)

CB1300 Standard:  1/10

ST1300 Standard:  5/10

ST1300 plus AirHawk: 8/10

Russel Day Long: 11/10

Pillion, Mrs W (Helen) likes it too.  The little bit of moulding and extra contouring prevents any forward sliding when braking heavily.

Oh, and I like that bit too.

That need to wiggle forward is just what I also found when stopping when breaking in seat, completely gone now for all but an up hill stop.......very nice to not have your boy bits tank slapp'in isn't it  ;-*

Ok. So 1000 km done. The seat is amazing. Best seat ever. And I'm not just saying that because I spent the money. It's totally the best seat. I've done all day on it and only stopped because the sun went down.  Wife on the back hasn't complained once.

If you're on the fence. I can talk this seat up enough. It's that good

The RD Pillion seat seems to be over the top of the pannier release levers, does this cause a problem?

No issue at all Glen..... The latch does touch the seat on Pockey's, but doesn't impede its function at all. But the width and size of the seat does depend on the width of the......I'm mean the size of the.......well the surface area of the pillions arrrr  :whistle I have to go now my mums calling me for lunch  o:)

I'm assuming, that because the RDL is built on the OEM base, you still have the 3 adjustment heights. Correct or not?
Relate to Marcus' comment that he had to get used to a lower seat height. I currently have a lambs wool and Air Hawk. I've bent the rear locating lugs to level the seat up a bit so the front sits in the middle setting with the rear locating in the lowest setting. If fitting an RDL, I imagine i could still fit it at the highest setting?
Getting wind in my hair while I still have some.

The RD Pillion seat seems to be over the top of the pannier release levers, does this cause a problem?

The Russell Day Long pillion seat on my ST1300 does overhang the pannier release levers.  I need to be careful inserting and turning the key, and then lifting the levers.  If I did this on a daily basis, I'm sure I would end up accidentally damaging the seat.

But it does not worry me too much as I don't store anything I need to get too under the seat and the seat height / position is set-up for me (lowest position).

The problem with inserting and turning is because of the key length.  I'm sure a shorter key would be handy.  I keep meaning to get a shorter key (just for the release levers) cut.

Anyone know if this is possible?

Re. seat height, even on it's lowest setting (same for the original Honda seat), it's still a bit too high for me to clearly see the indicators lights on the instrument panel.

Anyone else have this problem?

Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

They use your OEM seat so everything fits the same. I just had to get used to the missing height the airhawke gave me as I had mine inflated a lot

Search "key" on the forum.  I've had a few cut for various applications.  Apparently the Honda Legend key blank fits.

A search on eBay for "Honda ST1300 key blanks" will turn up heaps of cheapies.

Any Mr Minit can cut it.

The key is fine on mine. As each seat is different. It's a lucky dip

Possibly a function of the width of one's butt?
