Border And the Turtle

Another Border Run has come and gone 2014 done  :like

Day one Friday
Rolled up to meet Wombat and Hoffy at the Caltex Servo in Gosnells for a 7.30 depart time to head up to York to Yorkies house to head out from there as a group to Balladonia.I must say Yorkies house is so old and his views of the hills are just horrible and his Man cave is so tiny and mess I will never go back  :rofl ..... Im voting for WA AGM 2016 at Yorkie's :thumb. We had a chin wag for a bit before and departed for Tammin for a coffee, the back road to Tammin was great and also seeing the part of road Yorkie got airborne in the fog on a trip once.Once we arrived at Tammin it was agreed it was bloody freezing and the wind was making it worse, once inside the Servo Hoffy got a lovely coffee with a strange biological growth on his cappuccino looked very green and mmmm tasty NOT. We saddled up again and headed for our fuel and lunch stop in SouthernCross where we met Pezz with his rather large camping bag I believe Wombats swag took out the award for large item on bike,on our way into SouthernCross Yorkie and I got noticed the unmarked police car heading passed us tho our speed was in side the limit ........ Seems Pezz has a story to tell on this  :spank
We all headed off for Norseman 4 white And one red of the site chasing that Yorkie, Wombat had a small issue with his sway and tarp moving on the back seat and I was behind keeping an eye on it and 3 mins late blue tarp up and away off the back a quick stop was called on the UHF and down the road we got to fold it back up  :OldMan. We had lots of chat on the UHF's a must on the long trips on bikes  :like,I was having real bad issues with fuel issues with my 1300 and 14 and 17 tops per km a litre bloody hell and I was noticing the temp bars down and dancing around it was confirmed when I got online at Balladonia looks like it's my thermostat stuck open and no way to fix out on this trip once home I removed and yep it was just that new one in anyway back to the ride so once at norseman it was a great to have hoffys mates welcome us into town with a licence rego and blow in the bag welcome to town  :KissBlow. After refuelling for our next leg to Balladonia and saying goodbye to Pezz on his SS1600 and we would see him later in the night at Balladonia he headed off before coming back 5 mins later telling us his temp gauge shot up and no thermo fan came on bugger it was spitting coolant out the rear bottle so some repairs made by the team and he was away with a thermo fan on constant with ignition for the trip.Wombat Hoffy Yorkie and myself had a lovely 190kms ride in the dark to Balladonia and did I mention it was freeeeezing and we had to look out for those hoppy things, once we arrived Yorkie did a nice I'm laying down right In front of the servo I'm to cold to get off the bike job so it was all on hand to pick the bike up broken mirror and cover he was ok.So inside we go our room keys and dinner and boy was that burger good and warm  :thumbs we all headed for our rooms and showers and warm beds..... About 10pm Pezz arrived cold and looking like he had enough of the SS1600 he called it quits on safety and a good call it was mate,he setup a bed on the floor in my room and a few hours later he had to put the ear plugs in as I was going off like chainsaw with a V8 engine then many hours passed to me waking up from Pezz doing a Chainsaw so I said we are even  :butt. We woke up at about 4.30am packed up set the bikes back up and met The guys out from of the servo and departed Balladonia for our breakfast and fuel stop at Caiguna then onto Eucla for next refuel and keys too our rooms and 17km up the road to Border Village to meet everyone and a group pic of all the FarRiders
And met up with Saaz for a chin wag ,we had a Ozstoc group pic done and it was back to Eucla motel for us and I headed home myself at about 4.30am and got back to perth about 7pm I had a close encounter of the fury hoppy kind about 70km from Eucla I have some fur and marks on my mud guard I was lucky I just copped the tail section of the bloody thing no warning came straight out from side view at speed I was doing about 90km as still early morning no light .So just under 3000km for the weekend and a 1000 FarRide done in 24h
It was a great weekend with great mates and just a bit chilly I'm sure Pezz has lots of pics to post soon

Pezz has something to report, apparently.

Sounds like the Sandgropers need to invest in some cool weather riding gear.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

I just got back in tonight. Yes, it has been a bit cold at times. I now know that my ambient temperature gauge goes to -1c at least, and the ice warning symbol comes on a lot below 4c.

There is no more to the ride than riding there and back really, it is just how you fit the 5000kms there and back (for me) into the time you have. Easy peasy.

A good write up Turtle but how come you always get some one on the floor?
