Clutch out of juice
« on: February 03, 2012, 01:29:17 PM »
So I'm travelling along as I do and when I slow down for a turn I notice that the clutch is not near as solid? as it used to be. Over time it has been getting ahhhhhh softer so to speak. So a few stops before home can't get it into neutral without effort and when home figure out something must be ammiss?????? So off the top comes of the Clutch Fluid resovoir and surprise surprise she's empty, not a drop.
Now I know it may have a leak and yeah I know I should check things and yeah I know something may be ammiss, but me being me just filled it back up and at the moment the job is right :thumbs
So if it runs out again maybe then, I think I should have a look around, like its only one line from the resevoir to the front of the motor. Me thinks that maybe when a bikes been sitting out in 40+ temperatures for weeks on end some things do heat up and under pressure escape a little. Maybe it could just be as simple as that, or it could of been the rubber seal that seals the resevoir up maybe didn't seal all the way around and after a zillion ins and outs of the clutch a bit of fluid let go. Only time will tell  :think1 Hmmm I will say something if it happens again 8)

Might be just a slght fluid loss at the slave cylinder end, which may occur more often when sitting around (the seal might be a bit hardened with age so regular use is good) and a bit of water in the fluid that escapes when the system gets hot.  Maybe just flush the system out sometime  :-(((

I know that my tyres loose a bit of pressure if not used for a while, but stay the same when on trips and more regular use.

Mate, think you may have it their. The bike was basically sitting around out the front of my Donga, just sunbaking,  parked up doing nothing,  when I was on the mines up North

THERE   Location, as in "over there".

THEIR    Third person plural possessive.  e.g. "It is their fault."

THEY'RE Valid colloquial contraction of "they are" as in "They're going on holidays".

So THERE!!     :p
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
