When I first purchased my bike from a shop in Sydney, and rode it back to Melbourne, it must have had 91 octane in the tank... It rode ok with no issues and I was watching the fuel computer telling me around 16 or 17 kms/L at best... Many kms down the track I filled up with 98 octane fuel, and the computer immediately showed me 21 - 23 kms/L.... There is definitely a difference in fuels... I can do 570kms to a single fuel tank 2 up riding, if you're not getting that, then your bikes needs a serious tune.... Cheaper fuel may save you money, but only in the short term.... I wouldn't put anything other that '98, have never had any issues with knock...
