Newbie from Mid Nth Coast of NSW
« on: February 05, 2012, 07:04:18 AM »
Hi, Brad here from Kendall which is between Taree and Port Macquarie.

I ride a '99 ST1100 and reckon it's the best road bike I've owned so far, (previous bikes are 1981 GSX1100, GS1100GKE, XJ750 BMWK100RT and a Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe ).  I bought this bike when I was working as an instructor under the NSW RTA Learner rider scheme.  It was a good job where I could help new riders and give some advice to those that could already ride but the holder of the contract to supply that service was more interested in making money so we parted ways.  Don't think I'll be without an ST cause I think they tick all the boxes.

A friend who lives nearby (very accomplished dirt bike rider ) wanted to buy the new model Yamaha Tenere 1200 for his first road bike.  I told him about my ST1100 and without ever having sat on one it's what he bought.  We occasionally ride towards Newcastle or up and back on the Oxley Highway and he's more than impressed.  We're thinking of doing the Wall to Wall Ride this year.
We both have a common seat problem (comfort) and I'm going to see another local trimmer to see what he recommends.

Great to see a ST specific site in Aus up and running.  I'll be in contact for some advice shortly.

Hi Brad,
            Welcome Aboard!

Great to hear about more 1100's (slightly biased comment), you have found a great bunch of people, we all put in the effort, and the rewards are there!

the seat comment is a common one, but it has been mentinoned more than once throughout the threads here, I am sure some of the fine people here will tell you who does the best work.

Make sure you get your freind to sign up as well, and if your interested you can send me a private message with your address and i will post you some OzSTOC business cards in case you see another ST1100 or ST1300 and you can give them a card and tell them about us.

Cheers

Graham

Welcome Brad from  the west.

I had my seat re-done, best thing I did. I had it lowered and reshaped a bit, now I sit in it comfortably with no sliding or hot spots. If your motor trimmer is any good he should be able to do it.

Hi Brad,
Welcome from another NSWelshman. I live in Sydney but have a 2nd home at Wootton just south of Taree. We periodically ride the Oxley on your ST1100's big brother, our ST1300. My wife and I love riding in your area and know it well (my sister lives at Stewarts River) and we often stay at Walcha or Nundle. We will look out for you on the road.
Cheers

Goodonya Brad. Welcome mate.

We are only too happy to help out with any query/ies you may have - we also have a comprehensive ST1100 workshop board that can answer some of the little 'niggly' ones.

Pleased to have you aboard and read back on some of the older posts - they are quite entertaining, if not informative.

Cheers, Diesel

Welcome Brad,

I won't bother repeating what everyone is saying about this site and its members. Suffice to say it's all, well most, OK some of it's true.

Take care and happy riding                                                                              :wht13
