Battle of Britain anniversary

Great photos to commemorate the anniversary:-

Rather than photos of Spitfires and Hurricanes arcing through the sky one is reminded that the Battle also was one of massive daylight bombing and the beginning of the Blitz component that outlasted the actual fighter on fighter part of the Battle of Britain,  by years.

Looking at the faces of those civilians huddled underground one wonders if the current British could or would stand up to that sort of punishment these days or would demand that Whitehall throw in the towel early and all go back to watching soaps and drinking and drugging themselves into a stupor.
