Today was a 'Fix it' day
« on: September 25, 2014, 07:54:35 PM »
Lighting in the RJay top box has had broken wires for a few weeks, owing to carrying some heavy metal objects with sharp edges. One wire on my Oxford heated grip on my throttle broke a week back.
Got out the soldering iron. Would have been an easy job, if the LED cables were colour coded.
A couple of blown fuses later, and all is working again.
I wired the RJay box so that the tail lights go out and are replaced by the Brake light, as it is a distinctive change for following traffic.

Take note of my Fred Flintstone approach to the brake pedal test kit, so I could walk behind to take the pics.

Rear lights

Brake lights

I bought about $45 worth of assorted types and sizes of stainless steel screws bolts and washers, as required, and went on a rust patrol. Replaced everything that was a bit ordinary... purely for cosmetic reasons.
Filled in a boring day.

Nice Kev. Did you hard wire the topbox lights to the brakes or have a plug to disconnect. If a plug, what type of plug are you using?

Been doing some other maintenance on the bike.... fingers are covered in WD 40
Its great stuff for 'shining up' the grey tupperware.

This is the plug I used to connect the lights in the RJay

Great job Kev. Thanks for taking the trouble of pics and write up. You may have inspired other members to go screw themselves! (stainless steel variety of course)  (^_-)
