Waving is a gift you give, who cares who waves back.

I find that most HD riders acknowledge you if you wave to them up here, usually a lift of the head or a lift of a finger off the throttle.  I often get waves from 1%ers too, if they're riding on their own.

But who cares if they don't wave back, I've waved to them, that's the important thing.  You never know, it might be a newbie and it's the first wave they've been given.  Now that is a gift!

Good stuff, but when their naked chin is held high and their gaze is a kilometre down the road, I feel rejected, and like I wasted my energy.     

But I feel good when I can wave my free right hand because the cruise control is doing its thing.  The best times you feel the fellowship is out on the highway when the on-coming rider returns the wave with a high raised left arm.  I can't recall seeing a reciprocal right arm.  CCs must still be uncommon.

I always nod the head and occasionaly wave, and most will nod back, although if I come across a bunch of riders closely linked coming towards me I usually only nod to the first rider for fear of looking like I've got some sort of a head problem. If they're a little widely spaced I'll usually throw in a few more nods. It doesn't worry me too much if they don't acknowledge, but it's nice when they do! I regard it as a warm greeting......it's a biker thing!! I don't bother to acknowledge patched up Harley Riders as they never even bother to look at you let alone acknowledge your existence.
