Bike gone missing
« on: October 20, 2014, 06:33:31 PM »
Hi guys, I went for a ride today for a few hrs. Had a ball ,on the way home I got a puncture in the rear. 5 k's from home, pulled the phone out and flat. I had the cord in the truck. :|||| I walked home to get the trailer and son to help put the bike on the trailer. Get back to where the bike was and it's gone.
Not a happy bloke. Piss off doesn't even come close.
Might be some cheap parts on offer so be weary it might be from my bike. Black 1300
Cheers Adam

(also look out for two Brothers pipes for an ST1300 coming up - saaz)

Adam sorry to hear about your loss, and I hope you have a good insurance policy.
on my laST breakdown I refused quite a few offers to drive me to the next town fearing that STranger wouldnt be where I left him on my return, opting to spend 12 hrs in the cold damp air to ensure the same didnt happen to me, even though he is well insured.
I hope the  :cop catch the thieves  and they suffer the consequences  :spank :spank

Disastrous.  Can imagine the sinking feeling when you approached the location.
Maybe a lesson for us all.  There needs to be some way to get any witnesses to the "pick-up" to call Crimestoppers.  Presumably anyone who saw the theft assumed the low-life were retrieving their own bike.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Hopefully OzSTOC has enough eyes and ears around to turn up something about your bike. Knowing the reg number could be handy too as some cheapskate may even put plate on an unregistered bike or similar. All the best Adam

My Sympathy for your loss Adam!

I will never forget that feeling of confusion and disbelief when the same happened to me in the centre of Tel Aviv at lunch time.
I parked the bike on the side walk with Kryptonoite U lock thru the front wheel and fork, steering head locked AND Alarm activated for a short lunch of 20 min.
When I came back it was gone! 4 scum bags lifted the bike (GSX750EF) onto a ute and explained to 3 ladies who witnessed the event, that they were the owners and taking it for repair....

The bike was used later that day for a bank robbery and dumped behind an apartment block at night.

It was found the next morning by an israeli rock star who volunteers with police duties.

The damage was an ignition barrel and fuel cap and some re-connecting of jumped wires.

despite the additional weight (4 kg) since that event, I ALWAYS carry and USE a 6 meter super thick, steel reinforced security cable and extra heavy duty lock to go from front wheel > thru centre stand > to a fixed post. I use this if I need to walk away from the bike and cannot see it, no matter if 5 min or the whole day...takes 2 min to set up and 2 min to put away.

ANY bike can be taken if wanted badly enough, but for thieves it is a matter of utilizing time efficiently... it is a deterrent only, but the idea is to allow the scum to "move on to an easier target"

I hope you have a quick and positive outcome !

Zev

I also know how this feels, years ago living in an apartment block in South Africa, I had my brand new XJ750 stolen from under the stairwell where I parked it at night... It's a lousy feeling !!

...not my place, but being presumptious...but, 1 pair of lovely bolt on Two Brothers Racing bronze tinted carbon exhaust cans, oval shaped, with 8 distinctive gold anodised nuts that held the outlets on...I followed em often enough!

Leave the rest for Adam.

Cheers the can :-)

Gawd, that's rotten luck :(
That's partly why I have an alarm on the bike. Would make a hell of a racket and would look a bit more memorable and suspicious if someone was putting it on a trailer while all that was going on.

Sorry John I missed that, great thought! :thumb

I guess most know by now I am not a fan of aftermaket pipes and cans on the ST's, however, that said Adam's 1300 not only make the best note I have ever heard on any ST, but the Two Brothers cans (as I discribed), in an above post are really very distinctive. And could easily be seen on ebay, gumtree etc as there could br adapted to suit any V-twin.

I truly hope however, the Poliice will recover "me Mate over the back fence" bike before it comes to that.

Cheers all, the can :-)
