OK People. I've scoured Balranald, sought come local advice and booked a venue for our Saturday Night Dinner, which is within easy walking distance from the Caravan Park. Our hosts will be Lisa and Ashton.

Balranald Motor Inn & Billabong Restaurant
6.00pm with Dinner to be served at 6.30pm
A two course buffet consisting of Main and Sweets
$25 per head
Fortunately there's a bar

Accommodation is available at the venue if you are stuck for somewhere to stay. As a courtesy, I've advised the local police that we will be in town, and explained who we are and what we're doing. The Sergeant is very disappointed that she'll be away that weekend, as she rides.

The Balranald Caravan Park has a large lawned area with a fire pit, and this is a gathering point for travellers in the afternoons. Much red has been consumed and many stories told around that fire.

I seem to have made a small miscalculation, and found that the Billabong Restaurant is 1.6km from the Caravan Park.

I am advised that it is the best place in town to eat, so I trust it's not too far for old knees to walk.

That may not be an issue Pete, we may well be in the car as we cannot leave until well after dark on Friday night and we have a bulky item to collect on the way back through anyway

So will have 7 seats to transport the less mobile

I'd hate to gain a reputation as a slave driver who was caught cracking the whip over a staggering gaggle of old people on an enforced march in the dark, just so they could get some food and water.

Dont forgett your ear plugs. The trucks are running all night and go around a 90 deg corner (braking and accelareting) next to the park. Have been there twice, once very tired and the second time under the influence. But now I HAVE ear plugs and dont have to be tired or drunk to sleep,

Might be spending a night in Adelaide depending on how things unfold.

I'm waiting for confirmation but I may have lost my booking at the caravan park, I'll know by tomorrow afternoon and if that is the case I may have to get rooming in the motel.
